Hello,
I had a monitor that I had to tap to keep get on. This is built very similar to a tv. We had it checked and with some resoldering, it worked fine after that.

Don't know for sure if it will work for you, but usually when something is not connecting good, tapping it would shake it temporarily to connect. But for a permanent fix, it would need resolder.

Thanks,
Lolita

I have a JVC av36150 36" when you first turn TV on..there is no sound.. You have to tap the front of it..or go around back and tap the audio input board. what could be the problem..TV works fine once its...

Hi
You seem to have bad solder joints.
If you are handy with a soldering iron you can take off the back cover and knock around the circuit(using something non conductive , i.e a wooden salad spoon) to locate the area of the problem.
Start by following the speakers wires to the connector(s) on the circuit board and the audio output i.c should be near by and mounted on a heathsink, thats the general area where you might find bad solders, you may have to do a bunch of them before you get to it as they are not allways apparent.
Hope this will help good luck

Tv screen keeps going black on my 36" tv but there is still sound

Hello Munroe the problem is coming from a fautly flyback transformer or a faulty horizontal output transistor, what i would suggest is tap your tv set on the side if the picture comes up than this is bad soldering on the one of this circuits above and this is an easy fix, if it turns out to be bad solder on the pc board take it to a near by tv repair shop this fix should not be more than 50 dollars or so depends on the repair shop,Thank You hope this helps have anymore questions feel free to ask me.

MY SCREEN SHOWS ONLY A BRIGHT LINE STRAIT ACROSS THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN

you more than likely have a coupling capacitor defective in the vertical driver/output circuitry,or you can have "COLD"solder joints in these or the power supply section, carefully tap in every area on the case,if picture starts to expand and collapse, then its a solder joint thats bad/if you can take back cover off take an insulated plastic instrument and tap and push on board and components to see if you get the same results...be careful inside case

JVC AV-32730 36" picture problem..

From what you describe, a solder joint has probably cracked loose in a power supply or deflection circuit, which is quite common. Since you do sometimes see a good picture, all of your major components are fine. Repairing cracked solder joints is a very easy procedure and definately worth fixing on a 32 inch TV. The first 2 digits of the model number indicate the size of the TV.

36" CRT Toshiba has that vertical issue mentioned on here a bit

Your problem is most likely caused by a cold solder joint in the vertical circuit. Normally this is easy to find and correct. The problem will only get worse over time, but not likely for more damage to occur.
