It is very common for the "relays" to go out on the compressor. The relays are mounted on the left side of the compressor. You need to find an "Appliance Parts Store" and buy an "RO-41". (this is a relay) it cost no more than 10 bucks. Go home with your new bought relay and pull your refrigerator out from the wall. Don't forget to unplug it! Take off the rectangle card board cover off the bottom of the refrigerator "in back"... More than likely 1/4 nut driver. Now look for the compressor--"The Roundish black thing the size of a basketball". Next, you will see a box looking thing (black, white) mounted on the side of the compressor with 2 wires going to it. Next take it off the side of the compressor. It just pulls straight off! Sometime though it may be held in place by a little clip. Now read the instructions with the RO-41(inside cover). You will end up cutting the old relays off. Take the two wires that went to it and wire them into the relay(follow the instructions w/relay) then other wires on relay plug right into the compressor! AND THATS IT! It sounds hard but aint... goodluck!!!

SOURCE: 10 yr old GE side by side: freezer is leaking

Your drain is frozen up and so every time unit goes into defrost the water refreezes in the freezer's bottom. You either have to shut fridge off completely and let it dethaw or use hot water and an ice pick to hurry up the process. The drain is located in the very back of freezer. You will have to pull out the bottom drawer to see it. Good luck

Is the motor running. Check if it has enough refrigerant gas. If the freezer runs normally for a long time and switches off, then replace the thermostat.

I want to know how long the warranty is for GE Model FUF 17DPHRWH, Serial Number DL177038. Thanks. My phone number is 806.335.3745

The warranty offered by GE on the FUF17DPHRWH is one year for parts and labor from the date of purchase if the unit fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. If you pay for the GE Service Protection Plus, you will get longer coverage. (However, I've found that for most appliances, you would be better off putting the annual fee for the service in a savings account. Then when the appliance fails, use the money in the savings account to repair or replace the applaince.)

The manual is available here: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60441.pdf . If this direct link doesn't work, start at http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/ and enter the model number. Then click Submit.

I hope this helps.

(I have no way of looking up GE Service Protection plans.)

Dryer control panel wont light up and told I need a new panel

You can buy the control board yourself for about $200 and install it yourself. It could be a fuse inside that had blown too, Email me at buffalonymann@yahoo.com if you have any questions

its possible that your water tank has frozen up, try turning the refrig off and leave the doors open for about 10-15 mins and try it again. if that works just reset temp controls a little lower..

Loud buzzing noise from compressor area and freezer not cold enough

I have a 1.5 year old GE refrigerator and freezer. This unit had not given me any problems until 2 days ago when I constantly heard a loud buzzing sound coming from the freezer. I called GE and Best Buy (bought it there) and asked to troubleshoot this over the phone. They suggested sending a technician over for $100 just for the visit + labor + parts which could add up to hundreds of dollars. So, I researched the web and blogs like this. The answer to my problem was simple. Something that I placed inside the freezer was blocking the air circulation vent. So, I turned off the whole refridgerator and I removed everything from my freezer. For good measure I dislodged some ice and frost that had developed over the vent. I carefully put back everything into the freezer, but this time being careful not to block the vent. I turned on the power and voila! No more buzzing sound!!! I hope this works for you too.

GE GSS20IE Ice Maker

Even though the fridge was given to you it still has a 1 yr warranty from manufacture date.  Look on the sticker inside the fridge and see if it gives the manufacture date or get the receipt from you gave it to you.  Call 1-800-905-9505 for service.  They are nationwide (US).  If you find out it is older than 1 yr then use the model # on that sticker and go to www3.sears.com to get the correct part # for the icemaker.  Unfortunately these come as a whole unit and can't replace parts.  Once you have the correct part # I bet will find a good price on ebay for a new ice maker.  If you need help finding the part # or any other questions let me know.  If you feel I didn't help solve your problem please let me know before you rate this solution.
