Generally the green side faces out. In all honesty, it doesn't really matter, since the only thing that exhaust filter is really filtering is carbon dust off of the motor, and stuff that leaked through the other filters and already went through the motor, and it's not airtight so most debris just goes around it and into the air anyway.

I just ordered/received the filter apparatus that attaches to the clear plastic canister, BUT I can't seem to remove it.

The filters on a Dyson DC07 dont go inside the clear bin. There are 2 filters in this machine the first which is your washable filter is on the lower right side of the vacuum, if your facing the front of the vacuum. to remove this filter you push on the purple fiter catch button and lift up on that filter area then your filter will be in there. the only other filter is your permanate Hepa filter. which sits under neath the clear bin assy but that should almost never be removed. if you do need to the are 3 spots on the gray plastic lid. you take a flat head screw driver and gently slide it in the slots starting with the sides and then moving to the one in the middle in the front and then you just get under the lip and pop it up. and then you can access that filter. but again that is a permanate filter. it should not have to be replaced. and it can never be washed.

I just need to know whether the filter is installed with the black side outward or inward facing.

The coarsest side of the filter should be facing the dirty side of the airstream. The dirt / air should pass through the coarse side of the filter before exiting the finer side of the filter.
Hope that helps.

How do I locate and find each of the filters?

The foam & filter assembly is behind the clear door with the latch you pull up on, located above the dirt cup. The hepa filter is on the right side of vacuum as you are facing it from front.

HEPA FILTER REMOVAL

the filter should be easily accessable on the right side of the vacum cleaner if it's facing you. at the base of the vacum there is a large round cover that is removable and behind it it the filter. generally you dont need to replace it. its a big round spunge that you could rinse with water and squeeze out until it's clean. you also need to rinse the filter cover which is like a plastic netting. let it dry for 24 hours and you should be good to go!
enjoy!

Which side should face me (black or white) when I put in the CF-1 replacement filter?

The white side is filter media and the black side charcoal. The black side should be the side that the air flows out of and the white the side that the air flows into.

Vaccum cleaner not picking up (116.36933/Aspiradora)

Joan,

I had a similar problem with my upright and just resolved it today. Mine was also picking up with the beater bar, but not as good as it should and it had very little suction at the hose.

I did everything it said to do in my owners manual...
I looked into every entry to the dirt cup.
I checked for blockages into the bottom of the vacuum.
I cleaned the HEPA and regular filters and dirt cup - still no success.
I made sure the belt was working properly.

I finally sat and looked at how things should get into the clear dirt cup (bagless model).

I finally realized it had to be a blockage in the hose.

I completely detached the hose from the vacuum - this took some muscle.
Took the hose outside and used my high pressure nozzle on my garden hose to spray out the hose. It took a few seconds before a pretty large & stiff piece of paper (2"x2") and much more very dirty stuff finally blew out...
No wonder the vacuum had no suction!!!

The paper that was blocking the hose reminds me of a piece found under a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup! YIKES, it was probably candy causing yet more problems besides the extra pounds!!!

Hope this helps - I'm not an expert, just a frustrated cleaning fanatic who hates it when mechanical things don't work right!

Good LUCK!
