Question about Dryers
My zanusssi condenser works fine but has suddenly started making a loud whistling noise almost to the level of a siren. Took all the washing out and turned it on again, still the same noise. Looked inside, nothing unusual. Any ideas?
if it is a powered sub you should lift the ground. you can do this by adding a three prong to two prong adapter. you know, like when you go to plug something in and the cord your plugging in has three prongs and the outlet your plugging in to only has two. it doesn't have the hole for the ground so you go get a little grey adapter that has three holes on one side and two prongs or tabs on the other.if that doesn't take the hum out (actually, is keeping the hum from getting in) you have a problem with the amplifier.

Take off the back panel of the dryer and look at the motor and belt turning the drum. There may be something caught on the drum and is pinned in place causing the noise. The motor could be loose on the platform and needs to be tightened. It is probably something physical and seen causing the noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

I have the same problem on my oven- model JVM1640WB and called an appliance repairman who is honest and reliable (I've used him before). He said the problem is with the electrode, to fix it is roughly $300. He recommended buying a new microwave rather than fixing it.
