Appears I'm not alone with this problem. How do I get the menu button to work? Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem and fixed it! There is a small resistor just to the left of the menu button that was misaligned in theproduction process and the slightest amount of shock(i.e. small drop or maybe even bumping the camera with your hand) wouldbust the resistor's connection loose.
I basically just pulled the cover off, removed the old resistor and bridged the two points and that fixed it.

I am putting a more detailed HOWTO on the front page of my site, you can view it without making an account, but feel free to if you want. I hope this helps a few people.

http://HouseOfChaos.gotdns.com is my site, I also took a few pics and should have them up tomorrow.

It worked for me too. Although I was not able to 'bridged the two points' where the connector use to be, I carefully laid a small flat head screwdriver to bridge them temporarily and then pressed the (internally) menu button to access it and tell the camera to only use the internal memory when no SD card is in.

I did exactly what you said, and it worked. The component next to the menu button was broken, bridged the connection and it works. Thanks!

The FUNC button in the D80 does not work

In the menu settings, you need to assign the Func button to do something. The Func button alone will not operate until you assign a task. The tasks available are listed in the menu setting for the Func button.

Nikon coolpix p90 how to reset to factory settings

It doesn't reset everything, but there is a "Reset All" command in the Setup menu. Press the MENU button, then the wrench and then "Reset All."
This reset leaves the date/time, white balance, language, and video mode alone.

Camera comes on. screen shows OPTIO AND AT BOTTOM V1.01 THATS ALL- none of the funtions work. camera won't shut offf. have to open battery cover to shut off.

If you can get into the menu system, find "reset" in the set-up menu. If not, remove the card and battery...press every button....leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.....this is called a "hard reset" and sometimes works.

I need to perform a hard reset on a Nikon P100 - more than just returning to the factory default (menu) settings. I have installed firmware v 1.1, but problem with locking is not solved. ...

I'm assuming you mean something other than the reset found in the menu. Remove the battery and memory card...press every button....leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the battery and then the card....turn it on.

Have a Sony Alpha DSLR-A300K. Let a friend borrow it and she used USB to download the photos to her computer. Ever since she did that, the camera does not work: specifically, all the buttons don't do...

Sounds like when she disconnected the USB cord, she didn't use the "safely remove hardware" function on her computer. You could try a reset from the menu if you could get into it. If not, try a manual reset...it sometimes works. Remove the card and battery...press every button...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Try turning camera on,
Then press both Green buttons for a count of 10. This should restore factory reset.

Some models also have a reset button under a connector flap, or go into your menu. Under Custom Setting Menu, choose Menu Reset.

One of these methods should work.
