Check the receiving pin on the laptop, it may be bust. If it is you will need a new board as you cannot purchase the charge pin seperatly, if it is ok, your charger is probably burnt out. You can buy a universal charger if you cant replace the original.

HP dv6000 laptop not charging problem, adapter, battery and power jack looks like it works fine

If your battery, charger, and DC Jack are ok, then the most common problem is the surface mount transistors on your HP's main board called MOSFET's. They are small 30V N channel 8 pin components soldered to the main board. The boards also have transistor circuits which switch back and forth between a charging and discharging state. However these rarely ever fail. The MOSFETS fail because of the thermal loads which they must endure. Although some notebooks (like the Gateway I'm currently on) have a DC jack which serves dual purpose of supplying DC 19V AND connecting/disconnecting charging circuit. However your HP dv6K does not.
However it's worth mentioning that these models have had all sorts of problems...most notably poor thermal design to begin with that usually creates solder connection problems with the main chipset especially on AMD models. Good luck.. :)

Msi wind u160 runs on mains power only

If your laptop works fine while plugged in but stops working while unplugged it's likely that either your laptop battery is bad or your laptop is not charging the battery properly.

Below are steps that can be taken to help identify the cause of this issue.

Leave power plugged in

Make sure the computer has been charging from the power plug for at least two hours before attempting to unplug it.

Remove and reconnect battery

In some situations the battery can become loose.
Removing it and then put it back into the laptop.

Third-party utility

Use a third-party battery utility to determine the total capacity of the battery. For example, BatteryCare is a free software utility capable of doing this.

Replace battery or AC adapter

If your computer is still in warranty we suggest skipping to the next step.

If the above steps have been completed, we suggest replacing the battery in the computer or AC adapter.

In most situations it's a bad battery.

hope this helps

Try removing the battery from the back and then running it directly through the AC adapter. Sometimes the battery and AC adapter have conflicts and it can cause a laptop to become inoperable.

If this doesn't fix the problem in any way, I would recommend trying a new battery or AC adapter.

hope this helps

Unit will not turn on after power down for 3 days.

Assuming you are running on mains, remove battery and try without battery installed.
Try removing mains and battery power and press down on the power button for 30 secs then reconnect mains power and try again.

If this does not work and you know the Power adaptor to be working, I'd suggest its a main fuse in the laptop gone

Battery on packard bell

Probably not. Try removing the battery from the unit and just power-up from your adapter connected to the mains. See if the problem persists. If so, you may have another issue.

What, if anything, do you see on the screen as it is booting? This may be an indication of the source of the problem.

HP Pavilion dv9700t battery dead, faint blue flash from plug

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

Black screen, power and battery are ok

Hi,

Check fuse in plug first...!

Take the battery out and then plug the power adapter in and try to power it on, if it comes on power the laptop off again remove power adapter and put the battery back in and plug the power adapter back in.
If it didn't power on or light up on the laptop then the power adapter has gone faulty, buy a new one.

Power it on again, if it doesn't power up at all and there are no power lights the battery has come to end of its life.

If it powers on fine, then it just locked up, one of those things.

Thanks

I know batteries cost a little, but replace it. The power connection works through the battery charging unit. If the battery is no good, your connection is lost.

No power. Adapter light flashes when connected to laptop

thanks for using fixya!!

Please do and observe the following:

1. Uninstall the battery pack.
2. Then, connect the AC adapter, we will try to use the power coming from the AC, then turn on your laptop.
3. Observe what will happen.
4. If still doesn't work, install again the battery, then connect the AC adapter, check if its going to work.
5. If not, perhaps you have a problem neither with the battery or the AC adapter.

I suggest that you bring your laptop to a service center. Good luck!

pls rate me positively! thanks!

Amilo m 3438g laptop will not power up

I've found a few times that removing and then re-seating the battery can fix problems like this. You may want to give it a try.
The chances are minimal ,.. but it works sometimes.
There might also be a prob with your adapter. I have a Dell laptop and have had to
replace the adapter 2 times.
If it isnt that ,.. it will be the plug in for the adapter at the back of the computer that needs to be replaced.
