Hi! It sounds like your camera lens focus is stuck - could be sand or something in the focus gears - that's the weak spot of these lens. If you can't open the lens and check your lens focus gears yourself, you should contact your local Olympus service center or other camera service center. You can contact me too at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can give you a good price.
hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage. thank u rate me!!!
The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $48.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
I have recently had the same problem. I sent my camera back to Olympus who very efficiently repaired it FOC and sent it back with an extended warranty. I gather this is a very common problem with this camera.
