Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

Trying to get my e260 back on track....

I put rock box on my sansa e260 andwa not satisfied.....so I tried to remove it...
I erased all of the files on computer and device and it still starts up with the stinking bootloader.....
now it's in recovery mode and I just want to restore the manufacturer's firmware and have my e260 back!
also, it won't recognize the card.....I only have a 2g card in there and it used to work just fine.....so I don't understand why the difference now....
I have taken it apart and cleaned it as well as mad sure that the little brass contacts match up with the little card but.....alas....no card reading!!!

When on click on my sansa e260 in Rhapsody I see


Try the following method to see what is on your Sansa e260

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.

If you want to delete some or all of the files do the following:
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.

I keep trying to reformat my sansa e 260


what u want to do it go to my plug in the sansa to your computer and go to my computer...then right click on the sansa e260 ..then click format....if that does not clear ur bad files go back to my computer go to ur sansa then open it up on ur comp and delet all the files u can do this by clicking one folder ONCE then pressing ctrl a at the same time and release then press the delete bullon (not the back space) then it will ask you if you are sure u want to delet this...click yes then go back into the rhopsady/samsung program and right click on the mp3player and click format and that should work

My Sansa e260 won't recognise a 4gig micro card.


There are two types of 4gig micro sd,

theres MicroSDHC For nokia phones or
MicroSD Standard
The HC have a file format on them that only Nokias and Samsungs tend to recognise for mobile data transfer and access. The standard cards don't.

Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Adding or Removing tracks from my player


Yes, it could have quite a bit to do with that (even though I love BearShare).

Here are ways to delete:

Computer shuts off when transferring tracks


There is a problem with a corrupt file. it seems as though it is playing tag between your computer and sansa. clean up the computer and erase everything from the sansa, restart/reboot everything then try it again. if the problem continutes then it may be the motherboard, but please note that the motherboard would not mess up your computer. if it is under warranty, send it back. Sansa automatically erasing files?


next time you go to rhapsody right click the button that has you mp3s name an choose fomat device it will erase all files on your mp3 so you can put them back on

Cant erase folders


I had this problem, too. The folders don't show up ON the mp3 player, right? Just on the computer? And do they have funny letters for the names? I've been trying to get rid of them for quite a few weeks now, and I've found that the only way to do that is to format. :(
