1 Answer

I have a 18 Volt Makita drill , model # BDF 452 which I've used only 3 or 4 times . The last time I used it , I could not remove the drill bit . The chuck will not turn/loosen to release the bit . Any suggestions before I have to send it in for warranty repair . Thanks , Larry

Oh I hate when that happens. ushally its due to not being lined up right inside the unit. happens with my cheaper drills more so then not.

I ushally just secure the bit into my vice, and then tap the the key with a hammer to loosen the threads..

sounds like she might need a bit of oil I ushally use air compressor oil just a couple drops work for me.

Keyless chuck drill just spins

Some times the selector on top get gummed up with dust, it just needs cleaning. You were right to put it into 1st gear to remove the chuck with a big allen key, you get more resistance in the gears.

I have a 18 volt makita cordless impact driver i can not get the driver bit out it seems to be stuck in the chuck very tight

Try holding the bit with pliers and running in reverse, maybe with a shot of oil. That might free it up. You can also try tapping it (firmly) on the side of the bit

Do you know if this screwgun will accept square head autofeed screws. Also can I use other bradnd screws than makita?

There is an accessory for a #2 square drive bit part number 784647-5 which you should be able to but at any store that sells Makita items. Also I would think (but am not certain) that any quality autofeed screws as long at the collation is the same should work.

Makita 14 volt cordless drill, model 4337, just decided to slowl down and go dead.\r\ndrill is beyond warranty period and has been used only 5 or 6 times. does any one have any ideas???

The batterys don't last for ever dosn't really matter how many times you use it but never leave it in the garage or cold places that will distory the battery life and mermorey. Its a good gun so it may be worth getting new batterys just try to run them down all the way before recharging and never leave batterys in the cold and it will work and least 3 to 4 years before you need new batterys

Led light does not go off after use on a BDF 452 cordless drill?

not sure what the solution is but if you decide to open up the drill be very careful. all the guts only go in one way or the case won't close.

Between us my son and I have 10 18 volt batteries for our Makita power tools which we use in our Carpentry work of these 10 batteries 6 have failed. I have to say the reliabillity of the Ni-cad equipment...

Join the battery collectors club. I have 25 batteries, 12 guns, I quit buying the batteries, I found it cheaper to buy the gun with new batteries and charger once a year. Cause they don't even last that long. I have tried different brands too all the same. Got batteries?? Sure do.

Makita ML902 Flashlight how to open case housing to repair

Makita ML902 - great flashlight. but I wanted to upgrade the lamp to LED, and found that the POLARITY was wrong . so i HAD to open the dern thang. the 'special tool' and 'keep in-house' conspiracy had me 'fuming' ... turns out if one were to mark the EXACT spot that the pivot occurs with a felt pen, by drilling a small (sized) hole on each side, (stop as soon as the bit is thru! the shiney material that you stop at are lamp straps) then pressing 2 stiff objects from both sides, the head pops off ! one more screw is uncovered, making it an even 4 screws holding it all together. When i opened the case up, one wire wasn't even soldered to the switch ! aargh. so - swapped polarity, re-soldered the connections, add a bit of fresh solder, re-assemble, voila! I love the 9 volt cases, upgrading everything to 12v and 16v lithium 18650 cells. these old Makita ensembles are great! saw, drill, angle drill, light...
