Wireless aircard problem; remote computer not responding
Having problem with a audiovox pc5750 aircard. when we try to connect through vzaccess manager through verizon wireless national access broadband access service af first I was getting an error message that said username and password are invalid now I am getting a remote computer is not responding or something like that error message when I attempt to connect. We have already created with verizonwireless tech support a manual connection using correct username and password for carrier dialing #777 we have verified that the modem drivers are functioning correctly in device manager. One of the techs suggested that I disable the fax and data modem for my computer something that I did reluctantly, could this be a part of the problem? what else could be causing the error message remote host computer not responding?

You kinda need VZ Access but only for the activiation of the modem.
1. Download VZAccess for your mac and activate your modem, just connect once with it. It will go through and activate your modem. You only have to do this once.
2. Uninstall VZAccess, I believe it is in the Help Menu of the application itself.
3. Reboot you computer.
4. Plug in your Um175, go to System Preferences/Network and if it asks you to add the Pantech USB Modem say yes, may require password.
5. Select the Pantech USB Modem and enter the following:
configuration: default Telephone Number: #777 Account Number 10digit telephone number plus vzw3g.com, ie: email@example.com Password: vzw
6. click on Advanced
7. under the Modem Tab:
Vendor: Sierra model: CDMA Check Enable Error correction and compression in modem Dial Mode: Ignore Dial Tone when Dialing Dialing: Tone Sound Off
Click Ok then Apply and your Modem should not be setup without VZAccess Software installed.
When you try to establish a dial-up connection after you upgrade your computer to Microsoft Windows XP from Microsoft Windows 98, from Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, or from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Error 721: The remote computer is not responding.
Error 678: The remote computer failed to respond.
Error 691: Access was denied because the user name and/or password was invalid on the domain.
Error 777: The connection attempt failed because the modem or other connecting device on the remote computer is out of order.
To resolve this issue, contact the hardware manufacturer to inquire about how to obtain and install the latest Windows XP-compatible driver for the modem or download an XP driver for the modem
