Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Maytag dryer model lde612 runs but won't heat up. Checked the heating element and it was fine (about 10 to 11 ohms). Are there other relays or thermostats that I should check?

#1 reason of dryers going bad is woman's bra's....the medal sewed in the cloth itself for support comes out and goes into the small holes and hits the heating element on both sides and shorts it out...Change the heating element....It's in back of dryer.

does the element come on at this point ?
I'm not sure if you tried this already or not, but i would unplug the unit and wait a min and plug it back in and see if it resets and then works again . you could have had a power surge .

Top works fine, bottom no heat, does this unit have seperate heating elements or could it just be the internal fuse

Check your thermostats, all of them. There is a video here that shows you how. You can get any multy-meter or ohm-meter. The multy-meter you set to any ohm setting. When you check the thermostat if nothing happens, the numbers stay in zerro you have a bad thermostat. Is that simple.

Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating

Q - My electric dryer runs but will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating?
A - Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

Maytag dryer isn't heating

You never mentioned if you checked the large klixon mounted above the heater. If it is bad you will have no heat but the dryer will run. If the thermal fuse (mounted on the right hand side of the heater chamber, 2 white wires) is bad then the dryer simply will not run. If it is good then the next thing you need to check is the control thermostat mounted on the blower housing. While down there check to see if that wheel is loose. If the control thermostat is ok then you have a bad contact inside the timer. Sometimes you can clean the contacts in the timer like cleaning points on a car.

yes, it will. you should be able to take off the panel on the bottom of the front of the dryer. way in the back is the heating element. do not put your hands in there with the power on, but start the dryer and look in there and you will see if the heating element comes on. it will be like looking inside your toaster.

Dryer turns on doesnt dry

Suspect heating element or thermal fuse. The heating element and fuse can be checked with an ohm meter. The reading should be 0-2 ohms on both devices. If heating element reads infinity (nothing) replace heating element and fuse. If the fuse reads infinity then replace the fuse.
