Microwave light I have just purchase a microwave oven, however when I turn it on to cook something or open the door, the light won't come on. Do you think the bulb need to be replace even thought I just purchase it. Do bulbs just burn out by sitting on the shelf or could it be something with the control panel?

The microwave is a Kenmore model #721-66222,721-66229 or 721-66227, these 3 models was on the use and care guide that came with the microwave, so Iam not really sure which one is my model. The control panel works fine.

It can't burn out when it's off, but the shock and bumping of transport may have damaged the light, loosened the light in its socket, etc.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

Hotpoint Microwave Model RVM1435BD 001- microwave comes on when I open the door.

Many microwaves have similar issues. Usually, (not always) only the light is on and the fan is running, not the section that produces the microwaves. This problem can be caused by the door switches that are out of alignment or a defective control board.

My Panasonic 1300w microwave will not turn off. It doesn't cook but won't turn off without actually unplugging it or opening the door and leaving it open. Any help?

You may have a shorted door switch or a shorted relay on the control board.

You can see a help file on door switches here.

The light won't come on when we open the door and when you try to set a time for it to cook, the light inside comes on for about a second then goes off, so it won't cook anything. We did turn it...

Yes, I know you probably already got rid of the microwave oven but maybe this can help others. I had the exact same problem, it turned out one of the door switches desoldered itself from the PCB, leaving an ugly black PCB.

All I needed to do is remove the dirty residu by wiping and polishing with a simple pencil eraser and drill away the burned part of the PCB and resolder the switch using a piece of wire to the right PCB track. The switches probably are ready for repleacement and I did notice the relay on the other PCB also looked bad (Ormon G2R-1A-E 12VDC) you might wan to replace that.

All in all it is wise to look for something new.
If you want to fix it, also have a look at the vents on the underside just behind the controls. There is a big chance these are clogged.

Interior bulb needs to be replaced. What needs to be removed to gain access? Thanks

Advantium - Interior Light Operation While Microwaving

The Advantium 240 oven interior (cavity) light will illuminate anytime the door is open. However, due to the dark tint on the oven door, there is not a light on while cooking since the food would not be visible using the interior lamp.
Food may be viewed during a microwave cycle by pressing the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

One of the Upper Level Speedcook lamps will come on for 5 seconds. The Microwave/Oven Light pad can be pressed up to 5 times during a microwave cooking cycle. The limit of 5 times is to prevent excessive heat on microwave cookware from the Speedcook lamp.

The Advantium 120 oven cavity is illuminated anytime the door is opened and while the unit is in the microwave only mode. As a result it will not have the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

If the light is not operating properly, you will want to have it checked by an authorized service technician. To obtain in or out of warranty repair on Major Appliances, you may call 1-800-GE-CARES (800-432-2737) or schedule service online.

The microwave won't stop.

You probably have a bad door switch or door switch mount. See this file.
