Get a card reader. The one pictured below is $13 at Walmart. Create a folder on your desktop. Insert your card into the card reader and the other end into a USB port on your computer. Drag and drop the video file into the folder you created. b957eb4.jpg

Can't get image in viewfinder?

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button. If that doesn't work, try taking a picture and downloading it to your computer. Is it also black?

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D.

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

  1. Follow this link to download a pdf version of the firmware installation instruction guide.
  2. Follow this link to download the Windows Version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  3. Follow this link to download the MAC version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  4. Follow this link to download the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D Instruction Manual.

I hope that helps.

REMOVING PIX FROM MEM CARD TO PC

See if the camera has a real little usb port on it. It may be covered by a plug or something. Usb cords come in a lot of shapes and sizes. Take the camera to an electronics store and they can find one for you, I'll bet. Then the camera can connect directly to the computer. Turn them both on and let them talk.

Blurry picture on Canon A80

I don't know what you told that technician, but try this. Download some of your pictures and videos to your computer. If the downloaded pictures look fine on your computer, then the technician was right, and it's probably just a loose LCD ribbon cable connection.

BUT if the downloaded pictures also look blurry with stripes, then it's probably a faulty CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. BUT MAKE SURE you tell the technician this time that it is showing up on your DOWNLOADED pictures. I recommend trying again, and hope for a more knowledgeable tech on the line this time. Please check the following two links for more info:

Your Canon camera falls in one of the models that had a bad CCD imaging sensor. I do not exactly know how your screen looks like, but try to visit the follow link to read the article that is related to these camera problem, or go to your country's Canon site to find the 'Service Advisories' to learn about Canon's updated comments on their products, new or old. The link that I mentioned above: http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html If you have difficulties finding the related service advisories from the Canon site. Simply find their contact tel. no. and give them a call to find out how they will handle the situation. It's worth the time to do so, as it will be free of charge to get your camera fixed, including both way shipping costs if shippings are required. The link above will bring you to a web page containing sample images of the screens being affected by the bad CCD. Make sure they match the problem of yours before proceeding to the next step. Good luck. Paul
