Not clear whether you installed SP1 on the client or the server.
Try resetting or powering off and on the L230 and let it reintroduce itself to the network.
Also restart the computer that had the SP1 installed on it.
If none of the above resolves the problem, enter Network settings on the client and ensure that Neywork Discovery and File Sharing are not turned off. If they are off, enter Network and Sharing Center and use the Drop Down arrows on the right to turn them and any other desired options on.
Are you getting an error message? If so please post what that error is so I'm not falsely guessing what it might be. As a test, make sure your server can PING the L230. You can see the L230's IP address in the configuration console.
There were some issues with single core vs. multi-core processors with earlier versions of vSpace. Perhaps the two server/hosts you're using as a reference point are different in that one is single core, the other is multi-core. Regardless, my recommendation is to uninstall the vSpace
software, reboot, run their cleanup utility, and reinstall the latest
version. Before reinstalling, make SURE that you have applied any
Service Packs and ALL of the current MS updates. Additionally, browse
and make sure there are NO missing or conflicting drivers. Do NOT, I
repeat, do NOT install from the provided CD. As of
this posting date, the cleanup utility is available here:
nc-eng.com/tools/ncuninstall. The most up to date vSapce for L230 is on
the NComputing download site. If you hit this post later
and the supplied URLs are not valid call NComputing TS at 888-365-1210.
Lastly do NOT forget to register the vSpace software.
Can you PING the L230 device from the server? In other words, are you confident there is a clear IP path from server to device? Also, if you're running on XP, turn off the XP firewall as a test. If that works and you still want to run with the firewall on, then you'll need to specify specific ports to be opened up on your firewall or your domain's firewall policy. Those ports, as listed from NComputing's website are: Port Exceptions
This obviously should not be happening. Make sure your vSpace software is registered and make sure the devices are getting activated. For the first 30 days after installing vSpace, it will shut off the sessions after 60 minutes until the software is registered. If you never register it, on day 31, the devices won't connect at all. Additionally, make sure the hardware background activation is enabled. That setting is in the vSpace System Console ' System Settings.
Please recheck which model number you are working with, since what you are describing sounds like the L300 and not the L230. If it is the L300, then you may have initiated a firmware update from the console or from within the device. If your existing LAN has DHCP assigned IP addresses, you will be good to go. If you have statically assigned IP addresses, you will need to enter them in manually into the device. Their website has a very good instructional video on the procedures to hook up the devices. It will work with standard cat5,cat5E, or cat6 wiring.
