First use the recovery cd ..or installation cd ..to reinstall the operation system ....cause this is a sign that it got a bug on the system ..or has some damaged files that slow it down .... Another thing ...if it worked like this always...I sugest to downgrade to windows xp .cause you probably do not have enough Ram memory for this OS ...or upgrade the ram by inserting one more slot if it has free slots... for vista to operate well enough in a computer you need at least 2G of ram memory ...if you have only one ....better install windows XP ...if you want to downgrade to Xp and do not have the drivers ..let me know to link you to a download location ...
I bought a presario from circuit city last year, and I paid $200 to downgrade to XP. Everything was fine until it crashed last week. IT went completely bizzerk. HP won't provide support, cause I changed it. Circuit City is out of business, not much help there.
