Question about Breadman TR2200C Ultimate Bread Maker

3 Answers

I have a Breadman Ultimate and when I plug it in nothing beeps and the display doesn't light up. The outlet is good as I've tried other appliances in it and I've even tried other outlets but I get nothing. I tried jiggling the cord in a number of different places but still nothing. I only used this machine about 6 times so it's practically brand new- though it's out of warranty. Thank you.

Our machine is three years old, used maybe once a week, on average. My wife takes the paddle out after the final kneading; the machine normally retains the settings and resumes. Today, when she put the pan back, the machine blinked and died, no visible signs of life.

I removed a few screws and examined the innards: this was the cleanest I have ever seen the inside of any appliance! There was no visible sign of damage or burnout, and no visible fuse to replace. I think it's just plain dead.

Addition to Mcbirney's solution.

While you have the circuit board taken out, look at the inside of the top cover. There's a hole directly over the "internal reset" button. It goes all the way through, and is only covered by the silkscreened membrane on top.

Stick a pin through the hole from the inside to mark the spot. Turn the cover over and enlarge and clean up the hole with an Xacto knife. Put everything back together. Now any time you need to reset the machine, just stick a toothpick or paper clip into the hole to press the button without disassembling anything.

The internal computer probably needs to be reset. Unfortunately this cannot be done from outside the unit.

To do this, unplug the unit from the wall. Remove the controller cover (2 screws - one on the side, one on the back, then rotate the cover to the right and unsnap it from the base unit). Unplug the white connector with the two red wires to allow the cover to be turned over. Remove the circuit board cover (4 screws) and the circuit board (1 screw). On the front of the circuit board are a bunch of buttons, including one labeled RESET to the lower left of the blue battery. Press this button and hold it for a couple of seconds, then release it.

Verify that the unit now works by carefully resting the circuit board on a towel to isolate it from anything metal, and plug the unit back in. The display should now work. Unplug the unit, and re-assemble (don't forget to reconnect the white connector with the red wires).

Check the power socket it may be worn. If you suspect the plug it is easy to install a new one. Just keep the polarity correct

Main control panel does not power but inner light is on.

The light is probably powered directly from AC but the display is dependent on a (probably primitive) small power supply which may be separately fused internally. If you find no obvious fuse inside, you really need a multimeter to check after opening the housing. You can buy these now cheap digital meters at auto parts stores or electronic outlets.
Once you have one, you could comment back here for further guidance. It would help if you attach a snapshot of any boards you find inside.

No power when plugged in/no display. Reset button of no help.

The machine automatically reset after 24 hours of being disconnected from the electrical outlet.
When plugged in after 24 hours, power returned to the circuit board and the display was activated.

Initial use

YOu want to clean out the interior with a damp (NOT WET) cloth then dry it - before running it empty with the breadpan and paddle in place. My manual told me to follow the instructions for the Making Dough and Baking Bread section of the Instruction Manual. (I have TR5200BC) I'm referencing page 23 of my manual and starting from STEP 5. Comments in { } are mine.
5.Insert the Bread Pan into the Bread Chamber - press down and make sure it snaps securely into place. {note - you may find that you have to rotate what looks like the propeller on the bottom of your bread pan until you get used to placing it the chamber}. If the Bread Pan does not snap securely into place, remove Bread Pan. Wearing oven mits {to avoid sharp edges}, place fingers behind Bread Pan clips and gently pull away from oven wall. Insert Bread Pan again.
6. Close the Lid. Plug into 120V-60Hz outlet. The Breadman will beep and the display indicator will light up with flashing zeros.
7. Press the SELECT Button to choose the Cycle you want. Each time the SELECT Button is pressed, it will beep and the Indicator will move to the next Cycle in the Display Window.
8. {Skip step 8 - Crust selection}
9. Press the LOAF Size Butoon to select 1LB
10. {Skip step 10 - Extras nuts/fruits}
11.Press the START Button
12. Press STOP/RESET Button and open the Lid. {If you want to remove the Bread Pan at this time be sure to use oven mits - I did mine the night before I wanted to use it and let it cool over night. Before I used it to bake I rinsed out the Bread Pan with warm water and mild soap}.

This will take about 2 hours then you are ready to bake. Enjoy

Breadmaker not finishing the cyle

If you are leaving the unit plugged in all the time, you may reset it by unplugging it for about half an hour.  If this doesn't clear the problem, the timer unit is bad and will likely need replacement.  If you like the unit, consider a new one...or another brand

Breadman Ultimate TR2200C: "--H Error"

I had the same problem recently, however my machine was in use. I unplugged the breadmaker, let it sit and cool. After 1/2 an hour, It was functioning properly. If this doesn't solve the problem, after plugging IN try holding STOP/RESET button for 3-4 seconds.

worth trying...

Power won't turn on

The microprocessor in the keypad probably needs to be reset. With the unit unplugged, remove the keypad housing (one screw in back, one on the left side, rock it up enough to get a small screwdriver inside, then push back the soft plastic fingers to release the housing -- force it a bit, you won't break it). You do not need to remove the bottom cover.

Remove the keypad cover (4 screws) and the PC board (one screw). You'll see a factory reset button near the middle of the left side. Press and hold that for a couple of seconds.

If you want to test the unit before re-assembly, hold the PC board so it doesn't short against anything (there's nothing more than 5v on the board, so you won't get shocked), and plug the unit in. The display should appear. Unplug the unit, re-assemble, and then bake some bread!

There is also the possibility that the backup battery on this PC board is bad. Check it with a voltmeter -- it should be about 5v.

Check the solder joints on the board inside the unit.
Take the top off and take a picture of where the wires go and then repair it if needed and hook it all back up it should then work I just di that today and all is fine now.
