Question about IBM ThinkPad R40 2722 Notebook
I have a IBM think pad R40 it was left for 2 weeks turned off.
now when I plug in the power suppy the battery light comes on amber colour for a few seconds and goes off. But I canbt get the damn thing to turn on.
( i tried holding the power on button when pluggin the power sypply in, the laptop starts up for the few seconds then goes off dead????)
thanks for any help
This could be a battery problem. Remove the battery and start on the power supply only. If this doesn't work, then check the power supply with an ohm meter to see if it's getting the proper output to the machine. If the supply checks good, then I'm afraid that you have a problem component on the motherboard, and will need to have it professionally diagnosed in order to track down the exact problem component.

Check the ac adapter. It seems your adapter is not charging it. Either the ac adapter or your dc port may be the problem. Is this the correct adapter, is it giving the correct voltage. These should be considered also.
Hope this helps you
