Tell me about it, it seems to be an inherrent fault with this model, this sometimes works though.

swivel the camera around to face the rear of the notebook (making sure you turn it the right way) and turn it back again, now try to run the camera again, keep clicking the icon to start the cam and eventually it comes on.

My Acer Aspire one Netbook has a built it web camera but I can't find where it's located.

Hi,

Please find the below steps to access Camera Assistant Software:
a. On the taskbar double-click the Camera Assistant Software icon , or from the Windows® Start menu, point to All Programs, Camera Assistant Software, and then click Camera Assistant Software. The Camera Assistant Toolbar location briefly displays on the desktop.
b. On the Camera Assistant Toolbar, click the Start Camera button and click on the icons on the software.
NOTE: If you are not hearing the audio portion of the video you created, try the following: Verify that you do not have the audio capture muted. An X appears on the Mute button when Mute is selected.
Click the Functions button, and then click the Audio tab. In the Audio Output section, verify that the Digital Mic is selected from the Audio Device drop down list, and then click Apply. In the Audio Volume section, use the slider bar to increase the volume level. Verify that the notebook's volume is not muted. Pressing the Fn+End keys mutes the volume. Pressing the keys a second time restores the volume. Increase the notebook volume level by pressing the Fn+PgUp keys.

If the the above steps are not working, then follow the below steps:

You can reinstall the WebCam drivers from the Acer recovery management, to do so:
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Acer Crystal Eye and install it

OR

Got to http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Select the computer model
Select Operating System
Click Drivers
Select Camera (Suyin) and download it.
Once downloaded install it on your computer.

If still facing the issue, then you may need to perform full system recovery, to do so please follow the steps mentioned below

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key
& keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.
NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I have an Acer Aspire 5610 and when i want to use the orbicam, there is message saying that orbicam is not found or is not working properly

Is it connected thorugh a USB port?
Go to Start > Control Panel > System and click on the Hardware tab, then the Device manager button. Check that you have Universal Serial Bus Controllers installed and that they are enabled.

If you don't have any or there is a problem with them go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update and follow the directions on the screen and install all the updates it says you need.

If that doesn't work - reinstall windows.

Orbicam Not working!

The trouble can be caused by many things - software installation and deinstallation, driver problem or hardware failure (cable, camera itself).
If you are using Windows - can you see the camera in the Device Manager?
(To get there, right-click on My Computer, choose Manage. Look in Imaging Devices)
Do you see a red "x" or a yellow question mark?

A red "x" tells you that the Operating System doesn't know this device at all, a yellow question mark usually indicates a driver problem.

If this did not solve your problem, just come back here and leave a post with your findings. It would also be helpful to know what Operating System you are using and the model of your camera.

Let me know - I'm happy to help!

Computer doesnt recognize sound card

One of two things happened - Either the driver for the sound card became corrupted, or the sound card died. First thing to do is go through the control panel, and the add new hardware wizard, see if Windows detects and installs the card. If it detects the sound card, but can't find the driver, open the computer case, make a note of sound card manufacturer and model number, and use the manufacturer's support site to download and reinstall the drivers. (Alternately, if the card is integrated, or was put in the system by Acer, and if you're not concerned about data loss, many Acer desktops have a System Recovery partition, accessible by restarting and holding Alt. + F10 during post/startup - varies for some models)

If driver detection/reinstallation is unsuccessful, power off the system(Unplug the power cord as well), open the case, move the card to a different slot, restart the system, and try driver detection again.

If the card is STILL not showing up in device manager, its likely toast. You can purchase a decent Sound Blaster 5.1-7.1 sound card for under thirty bucks on Ebay, at WalMart, etc.

My cd rom drive is missing from my computer

HI SIR,
Its easy to solve this..

how to solve:
  • Make sure your CD ROM drive is properly connected to your computer.
  • Double click on your My Computer icon and click on "View system information" under the System Tasks area at the top left hand corner of the window.
  • Next, choose the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.
  • look through the list for the DVD/CD ROM drives and click on the little plus sign ( + ) to expand it.
If one does, it means that your CD ROM device is connected and that it does have power. If nothing comes up, you may have some internal connection problems with the power and the ribbon cables. To check on this, shut down your computer, remove the two cables that go along with the connectors on the back of the drive and reset them firmly back in. Also, check on the ribbon cable and ensure that it is plugged tightly into the motherboard.

When you have done all of that, restart your computer and try the above directions again (in the device manager). If you still don't have anything listed, your CD ROM drive may be defective. Now, if you have tried all of this and nothing has worked yet, as I said before, it could be a software problem. So, let's go ahead and explore that.

In the device manager listing, right click on the item that appears in the list and choose Properties. Look in the Device Status area and see if there an error (could be error code 19, 31, 32, 39 or 41). If this is the case, you won't be able to use the original software for your CD ROM drive, but you could do a search online for your drive's vendor and see if you can download the latest driver software for your particular CD ROM drive. This along with a restart of your computer can solve the problem.

Another thing that may help is the system restore feature that Windows XP offers. Read about system restore here before you go any further. A system restore can place your computer back to a time when it was working properly. If you can remember the last time you know your CD ROM drive was working right, do a restore for that date. This may solve your "missing drive" issue. With any luck, it will.

thank you
vino

Card Readers have disappeared

Don't believe the manufacturer when they say that the only choice is to reinstall - Your question of "what if they disappear again?" is valid, because it could very well happen.

Go into the Device Manager. Make sure that you can see hidden devices, and try to "refresh" the system. There should be a small button in the top pane to do this with. If you get no results, try going down to "Disk Drives". This is where the card readers SHOULD be showing up. If you don't see anything here, then you most likely have a hardware issue. Try once more to refresh for good measure, and to see if your computer can find them.

If you are comfortable with the inside of the machine, open up the side panel, with the power cable unplugged and the switch on the power supply flipped to the "O" side. Carefully follow the cables from the front panel where your card slots are to where they plug into the motherboard. Ensure they are properly plugged in.

If everything looks alright, you may have an issue with the hardware, either the slot device itself or the motherboard. Call up the manufacturer again, and see about getting your computer repaired.
