Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Losing steam My Gaggia Classic was a gift in December 2007 and is starting to have trouble keeping up steam for frothing. It used to be able to steam 3 or 4 ounces of milk on a single "charge". Now the light goes out indicating that the temperature in the boiler is too low, after about 20 seconds. I have to turn off the steam switch, wait about 10-15 seconds until the light goes back on, then continue frothing the milk. Sometimes I have to recharge the boiler twice just to froth 4 oz of milk. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks

IT IS INSIDE THE INJECTOR ASSEMBLY. IF STEAM DOES NOT COME OUT THE ACTUAL STEAM TUBE THEN ITS CONTROL VALVE OPERATED BY THE ROTATING KNOB IS CLOGGED. REPLACE THE VALVE IF DESCALING WOULD NOT CLEAR OF THE INTERNAL ORIFICES.

Frothing attachment coming off from pressure

Check the holes in the attachment they might be blocked and the pressure of the steam is blowing it off.

Replace the thermostat for the steamvalve, it is not keeping the element on long enough or you need to descale boiler because there is not enough room for water.

Not frothing milk

that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

Very common problem with the american maid makers.

bear also in mind that Krups are not the best at frothing milk, and this is also a basic model.

If you want the best capuccino Coffee machine, buy the italian ones, Gaggia, Delonghi, Ariete etc. that are all great at this, or get a bigger Krups as a replacement like the Krups XP405040 that is also good at capuccino

No steam when valve opened, spits out water in the beginning of frothing

There is a small teflon piece on the inside of the steam tube, you will have to disassemble the frother to get to it. Remove this piece. Reassemble and the wand should work fine.

Where do I locate the fuse for the steam nozzle of the Gaggia Classic? - the coffee brews but no steam will come out to froth up -I was advised it was probably the fuse -all othe rparts have been cleaned

If the coffee brews hot then the problem is a blockage on the steam valve nozzle or line. Try removing steam wand and opening valve to see if it works, if it does the problem is in the wand that has been removed. Dismantle parnello and using a paperclip clear out the hole in the end of the steam wand.

Gaggia Coffee

Hello, I have been experienceing the same problem since I bought this thing. I used to have the classic Gaggia until it died after 15 years. however, when I went to this one it just didn't function the same.I was having water leaks come from the group assy so I replaced the group valve assy which I saw a diffrence and it functioned properly for a few days, then It was acting up again. No steam to froth and water bypassing the group assy... I then removed the valve assy again and saw it was somewhat clogged of mineral deposits.I cleaned it and after a few days once again it wasn't frothing as it should. Yesterday I completely tore this thing apart but couldn't figure out how to remove the steam valve assy. Does anyone have any ideas?? I removed the 2 screws and it won't move. OH BEFORE I FORGET!!! It was working fine the other day and while I was in the middle of frothing, it suddenly went to half pressure.... ANY IDEAS?? Thank you in advance....
