Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I need some help to repair my Sony Cybershot DSC W50 camera. When you turn the camera on, it displays 'Access' for about 30 seconds, during which time the lens zooms in and out. Then it says 'Turn the power off and on again'. Nothing has happened to the camera - it has not been dropped and this fault just suddenly started. What can I do about this? I have had it just over a year. I’d be really grateful for any support! Thank you! Clare

Same problem! The Camara makes a louder than usual noise as the power is turned on & the lens adjusts. The zoom fails to work and the screen reads 'turn power on off again'. The zoom does work on a photo that has already been taken.

When the camera is switched on it turns the lense out to a certain position and locks , but if due to any reason if the lense does not reaches to its proper position it retracts back and tries again 2 or 3 times, and then the movement haults and prompts 'Turn the power off and on again'. there is a friction in the movement of the lense. If you want to fix it yourself, then you have to open the lense assembly , dismantal it clen all the barrels and the groves, remove all the dirt and friction in the movement. refit the assembly and you will get the camera working .

I have a Sony DSC-W50 Cybershot camera that won't take pictures or videos anymore. It powers up fine and the screen works, but when I hold down the shutter button all the way, it focuses and nothing more.

Instructions on how to replace the LCD screen on a Sony cybershot DSC-W55? Thanks.

You need to disassembly your camera, and certainly to have a new display. I my opinion is best to take your camera to a repair center taht certainly will make the job easier to you.

If you have a display, take apart your camera is only for those that has some experience with small devices.

Best luck!

Sony cybershot DSC-W50 lens problen

thats normal.
it just doesn't have enough power to bring the lense back in.
once you charge your battery and turn it on the lense will automatically come back in and then out for you to take a picture.

I had the same problem with my DSC-W55. I actually just called the customer service number on the sony website and they told me how to solve the problem.

- Take your battery out
- Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
- Re enter your battery
- Voila.. it should work when you turn it on. Mine did.
