There are two possibilities here.

1) The standby power supply has failed.
2) There is a problem in the final amplifier stage that is causing the unit to enter protect mode.

Check the small transformer inside for continuity. The primary side should read low resistance when using an ohmmeter. If it reads infinity, the primary winding is open and the transformer needs to be replaced. This often occurs during a power outage. A short power surge opens up the primary side. Without the standby voltage, the internal CPU won't be active to receive the power-on command.

If the unit attempts to start and shuts down, there probably are shorted transistors in the final output stage of the unit.

In either case, without seeing the unit and takeing a few measurements, remote diagnosis is near impossible. I would suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate from a service shop and post the results here. We should be able to guide ytou through the actual repair. This estimate should not cost more than $50.

Keep us posted.

I would have expected +5V and +12 not +7.5. Check any ICs that hang off of the 12V line for a shorted condition. Also check the regulator. It may be a 7812.

    Keep us posted.

Try to dry the circuit board with the dryer ,so as to remove any moisture on the board which would be shorting the tracks.this normally solves the problem if it was working properly before.

Have jvc rx-2020v receiver with mono rca out for sub and trying to hook it up with polk audio rm 1000 w sub woofer with +/- terminals for both left ane right channels plus blue terminal(?). How to?

Your Polk Audio subwoofer is a passive sub and your JVC mono output is for connection to a powered sub. If the JVC does not have an amplified output for a passive sub, you'll either need to get an amplified sub, a different receiver, or buy a dedicated mono subwoofer amplifier.

My powered sub woofer system doesn't work.power indicator works and fan doesnt no sound

You will need to contact JVC online, customer support and the technical department to see if they can provide at least download on the circuit diagram. The powered sub from your description has a short, probably the main ic that is heatsinked.

I have a JVC TH-M505 home theater and it got locked. It'll play the dvds that are already in it but I can't open it to change them.

You cannot lock the eject system of this multi CD player. You must be having a jammed mechanism because of dislocation of CD's. Take professional help or else open the top cover and see if there are any loose discs inside. Remove them and try ejecting the system once again. Remember to unplug the power when you open the system.

Stopped working

I had a similar problem with a jvc 8040. when I replaced the fuse it became very obvious that the b1560 output on the center channel was blown (smoke and sparks, always a dead giveaway). I haven't fixed the center channel yet but simply unplugged the center channel board and removed it from the unit. Now everything works fine except of course the center channel. Pre outs still operate just fine so a slave amp could be used for center channel power, or you could just go and buy a marantz amp; I did and then I realized that I was lucky that the old jvc quit.
