Problem with uploading photos from fujifilm finepix s1000

I have a problem with uploading photos from fujifilm finepix s1000.

I am running XP. I have loaded Finepix software version 5.4b for windows.

When the images are in the process of being uploaded from camera to pc the pc crashes. I have taken about 140 photos. The machine does not discriminat when it wants to crash. One time it will be on say photo 64, another no. 26, next maybe 52 etc etc. When the machine crashes it ompletely locks up. I cannot use CTRL ALT DEL !

Do you have any ideas?

thanks

David

i cannot get my s1000 finepix to transfer the images from the camera to my pc....originally i was using hp photosmart premier as it is compatible with my printer...usually as soon as i connected my camera to the usb port my photos would automatically transfer to all places; premier, "my pictures" and adobe photoshop.....then the hp premier just quit working...no photos show up when i open premier and when i try to move my mouse on the page the whole page just disappears....i removed the premier program and downloaded it again...still the same results....now i just want to get photos off my camera and onto my computer so that i can email them...what do i do to get them to import on adobe photoshop??? i am now using it to edit and print.....help!!!!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: Cant upload pix from my fuji s1000fd to pc finepix program.

instead of using the usb plug that the camera has go to best buy, show them your card, and ask for a card reader
what this will do is plug into a usb port, and it will read the data off of the card, completely bypassing the program

You have to be more specific.
Which os are you using ?
You do not need any software to get your photos from the camera to the PC.
XP and Vista have their own programs for free.
What you need, is the USB driver for the camera, which is on your Finepix CD !
Or you can connect a cardreader to the PC and insert the card into the reader.

In order to download photos to your PC or laptop, you have to install the drivers for your camera. Please follow these steps.

1- Use the CD which came with your camera and install the drivers. If you do not have your CD, go to fuji website and download it.

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/01/index.html

2- After installing the drivers, connect your camera to your computer and on the dial select play and turn the camera on.

3- If the drivers are installed correctely, when you click start, computer you would see an icon with all or part of Fuji FinePix J10 Digital. Double click on this icon. You would see one or more folders which contain the stored pictures or videos. Now you are able to download, copy delete the stored pictures in your camera.

An update to the initial posting. As a warranty service provider, I can state that physical damage as a result of mis-use is NOT covered under warranty. Lens problems caused by dropping the camera are considered mis-use and are not covered. There is a good posibility that the lens assembly is just out of timing and can be rebuilt, but the cost to do this will not be paid by the manufacturer.

I don't want you to believe that this repair will be for free as it will not.

Regards,
Dan

I have a new computer,my finepixviewer was installed on my old one worked fine. I have down loaded my finepix Cd onto new computer. It has insalled ok but will not conect to server to down load extra...

Did you try contacting Fujifilm online support? This may be because you have not registered from the new computer to whatever program you are trying to connect. If your problem is about running the software already installed, why not consider using third-part software to download, and edit your photos. picasa for example.

Lost software disk for the Fujifilm finepix s700, can't upload?

If you are using Windows XP the Z10 should be a plug and play without using the Fuji software. If you need a link to the software, this ought to do it. http://www.fujifilm.ca/x13918.xml

My computer doesn't detect my finepix s602zoom

I have not had this problem, but I always use a card reader to upload my photos.
It saves on wear and tear on the small usb socket on the side of the camera. I can't see any reason to use a cable if all I need is to upload photos.

Early production versions of the S1000 had this error in the firmware. There is a firmware upgrade that addresses this problem. Here is a link to the upgrade; http://www.fujifilm.ca/x16655.xml
Later versions of the S1000 came from the factory with this version of the firmware, and the colour problems stopped. Customers of mine who have performed the upgrade all report the problems to be rectified.

My Fujifilm digital camera is connected to my computer, but the removable disk does not appear when I open "My Computer" in Windows. I have a FinePix camera and have installed the software

If the removable disk does not appear when you open "My Computer" in Windows, it is possible that the USB drivers are not installed correctly. Update to the latest version of FinePix Viewer (including the USB drivers). To update FinePix Viewer, you must have the software from the CD-ROM bundled with the product (Utilities for FinePix) already installed. As an alternative method to updating the software, you can also reinstall the USB drivers. The USB drivers can be reinstalled by installing the software from the CD-ROM again. If the removable disk is still not displayed after the above measures have been taken, check the following: Windows system checks 1. You should be using Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. 2. The Windows XP USB drivers are supported as standard system drivers but are only compatible with Software for FinePix versions 2.0 or later. If you are using an earlier version of the CD-ROM, an update to FinePix Viewer is required. 3. The software cannot be installed properly from "Scanners and Cameras" in the Control Panel. Digital camera checks 1. Check that the digital camera can play back images on its LCD monitor. 2. On digital cameras with the PC Camera function, select "DSC" as the USB setting. (Refer to the Owner's Manual for your camera for information on specifying the camera settings.)
