Gateway m-1625 CD/DVD-rom won't read any disc. Its spinning but no read. any thoughts?

you might try taking a q tip and some alcohol and clean the eye ( a little glass looking circle ) that reads the disk. Do not touch it with your fingers. Sometimes dust or dirt can get on it and it will not read the disk. This also works on cd players as well as dvd players.

Hello there.

This would probably be a mechanism fault. For sure it's not software related, but hardware related.

Which means the best thing to do is to take it to your nearest Toshiba service center, so they can repair / replace your DVD-RW drive. A new DVD-RW is not expensive and it's fairly easy for a qualified service technician to replace it.

Dvd player won't play disc

The DVD read head may need to be cleaned. Sometimes perfectly OK drives also fail to read certain discs. If the problem is persistent, i.e. the notebook won't read any discs, then clean the head (with a head cleaner) and try again. If it starts working, fine.. If not, then you may have to replace the DVD drive. If the problem is only related to playing one particular DVD, then its the DVD that is faulty.
Hope this helps.

Cannot play dvd disk

Many probable reasons.
-You put dvd disk in a cd reader
-The Dvd disk is unreadable(full of scratch at the bottom)
-The Dvd reader is not identified by your computer.

1st identify what the reason is.
Then reply

Hope this helps. Thank you for using Fixya!

OK I think my laptop makes noise because of the fan.

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

It is normal for the laptop's fan to make noise. Sometimes, the noise will not be as bad. The noise actually depends on how hot your laptop is. The hotter the laptop becomes, the louder the fan noise. Your laptop will produce heat depending on the load of the laptop's processor. So if you are multitasking on your laptop, expect the fan to spin faster because it will try to eliminate the extra heat being generated.

I just have a quick tip for you, never use your laptop on top of a bed or any soft surface because the vents under the laptop will not work properly.

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

I have lenovo3000y500 77614eq its dvdwriter does not read any dvd

Does it read any other data disks?

If it doesn't read anything, but behaves normally otherwise (ejects when you hit the eject button, spins up after you insert a disk, etc) you probably have a bad DVD drive.

Dell inspiron 2200

at the front panel of the dvd drive where u normally press the eject button look carefully u will find a very small hole some where in around the eject button. now look for a broom stick or any tiny but straight object that can go in through the hole. put the broom stick into the hole gradually not with force. the dvd player will eject if it doesnt eject then i dont know.
to replace a new dvd player u just unplug the formal one from yr system and insert the new one thats all. make sure no screws r holding the dvd player b4 u do so.
hope this helps
do come back n tell us if don
thank u
