Hello,

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Good luck in solving the problem....

I have a Jenn air side by side refrig/freezer

Hi rdiorio.
you could have one of many faults, either thermostat, compressor or if electronic maybe that have failed. If the Thermostat starts to fail it can produce eratic readings which freezer the chiller part of cabinet, then it can fail completly. What ever you do remember 240 Volts kills. Use a qualified person when dealing with electrics... Cheers

Why are my veggies freezing even thought the temp is set to 40?

Most fridges have crisper drawers that have a selection lever on either the front or side of the drawer that allows you to select eiher veggies or meat. Veggie setting is supposed to keep the crisper drawer warmer, while Meat setting makes it the coldest possible.

If you don't have the selector slide levers, I would suggest you use the highest possible crisper drawer available, as the lower in the frdge compartment you go, the colder the air will be. That should resolve the problem you're having, other than lowering the fridge temp setting slightly.

You might notice a cold air exchange vent next to your crisper, which supplies cold air from the freezer section into the fridge section, so that could be contributing to the colder temps in the crisper where you keep your veggies.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Refrigerator crisper drawers are freezing veggies

Shut the air flow into the crispers if you can. If not, turn the refrigerator temperature warmer by just a few degrees. The air into the fridge from the freezer is channeled into the crispers.

Water under veggie bin in fridg. model frigidaire F44Q21RJ,

possibility's:

1 There is a drain that carries away the water under the cooling coils. These coils are in the freezer section.

2 The damper going to the crisper( s) is open too far allowing cold air to cause condensate on the fridge wall or bottom.

3 The freezer section is not defrosting and there is a spot where the ice buildup is allowing conductive cooling into the refrigerator section and therefore is allowing condensation on the refrigerator wall or ceiling.

4 The refg section has a heater (possibly not positive) in the area of the door frame, or it may have a "power saver" switch. This switch and the heater (if it has a heater it may not have a switch) are designed to stop condensation on the refridg while running. I fit is placed in the "power save" mode it turns off the heater. But, if you live in extream humidity (Great lakes east side or Gulf coats Houstion...) the humid air will condensate water out and it will collect and settle on the floor.

5 Door gaskets are not sealing especially on the bottom of the door. This allows warmer air into the fridge section and it is condensation on floor under the crisper.

If you check all of these items and still cant find it please post back and tell me what you did find. So I can help you more. Please rate me as much as possible as Im trying to keep my average up and do the things that will actually educate and help people.

THANK you for using fixya and good luck..

Leaks water inside, under the veg bins. I am sponging it out daily. Sometimes leaks onto the middle shelf and will freeze up a nice puddle.

there is a tube on some of these model that goes through the back of the fridge and onto the bottom. It is usually up high (if not under the crisper s). If its close to the freezer compartment may have Ice blocking it. If its up high and behind a ceiling cover it could have dirt and gunk stopping it up. try a soda straw and push it in the open part of the hole. see if you get anything out. You say it freezes on the shelf in the fridge compartment (Im betting on Ice blocking the hole because this is way too cold for a refrigerator with veggies. Right?)

Warm water set inside fro a few minutes to hours with the door open or a hair dryer running in it for a few minutes may defrost it and solve the problem then it may come back if there is too much air from the freezer or the thermostat is keeping it running too long.

Hope this helps and if so please rate me accordingly and good luck

Water dispenser frozen?

You have a resevoir inside the fridge compartment that needs to be defrosted. It is frozen.

It is usually located behind the crisper drawers.

It is a small plastic tank that is white about 6 inches or so in length and bolted on to the wall behind the crispers.

A hair dryer usually does the trick in about 10 mins.

Frozen Veggies in Crisper Drawers and Water under Drawers

water under the crisper doors is pretty common, all you have to do is raise the front legs of the refrigerator, Refrigerators have a heater in them that keep everything from freezing, if it wasnt for the heater then it would just be a freezer, now alot of these samsungs have 2 evaps, so if you get a warm fridge, its prob. because a sensor is out or the heater is out and there is ice buildup inside the unit preventing either the fan from turning, or just blocking air flow, but for the water, just raise the front legs and there is a drain in the back that it will go into from now on
