Thanks, Geno_3245. Another thing you may be able to try is this:
(1) find your "garbage disposal wrench" - an offset Allen wrench designed to be inserted int the bottom of the disposal which was supplied with the unit (in a little plastic baggie) when the unit was brand new.
(2) with poweroff, insert the whench into the bottom of the disposal and use it to manually turn the impeller around a few times an see if anything pops loose.
If nothing comes loose, its the bearing screaming before it dies, like Geno_3245 says... so start pricing a new replacement.
Put vacuum hose down inside disposal and see if something small and metalic is rolling around loose.
Otherwise, it sounds like the bearing is rusted.
The bearing is sealed from water and eventually the seal breaks.
If disposal is still operational and not leaking, you can run it until it stops.
Replace disposal when it starts vibrating a lot because that will loosen the tubular pipe joints, so they have to be disassembled, cleaned and put back.
I wrote ez garbage disposal replacement steps from days when I worked apartment maintenance.
