Radeon VE and flickering screens

By Perkins - usenet poster

Hi,
I have just bought a radeon VE and added a couple of monitors to it, both
hansol, (710P) and a cheaper 730E. The picture quality is awful with one of
the monitors very bad on the eyes whilst the other one is sharp and stable.
unstable look moves to the other monitor if I change the cables over so it
is not the monitor. Has anyone got any idea what I can try. I have tried the
refresh rate and resolution settings and also changed the card but no luck.

I have win 98se, loads of ram, a Genius sound card, pinnacle DV200 video
editing/ capture card.

Any ideas would be great.

I found that I had the same problem as you.  I periodically rebuild my
machine and use the latest drivers for all my hardware.  At some point (cant
remember when), the drivers seemed to clear the image on the second monitor.
I just redid my machine yesterday and used the Catalyst 2.3 drivers.  I
notice the picuture quality to the tv is much better.  I lent my other
monitor to my mom so I cant report on the quality there.  I assume the
monitor quality would be a little better.  The tv output was always not as
good, but it did improve.

good luck

I am using 98se as well.  If Im not wrong, I believe that download is the
same for ME.  But I did do a simple search on google and found a site that
had the catalyst 2.3 drivers for Win98se.  Several sites I noted did not
offer a specific one for Win98se but some did.  I dont think it should be
hard to find.  I know it didnt take more than a few clicks on the hits I
found in google and was on my way from there.

good luck
