My remington 870 is suddenly not loading shells from the tube. What could be the problem

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2013

I also started to have this issue after adding a collapsable stock and foreend. Now, my shells arent loading into the chamber from the tube... any ideas as to the problem or a fix?

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2014

Was the foreend approved for you weapon? Was it an extended or added rounds forend? Will NONE of them load, or just the last few?

It could be that the spring in the ammo tube is not strong enough to push them far enough back to clear the tube. Have you added any type of accessorys to the receiver like a side saddle, scope, etc? If you have changed the tightness of any of the screws or bolts (such as you would replace or adjust for a side saddle), it can bind up the action and prevent the free movement of the shells. Is it a new weapon? Is it propperly lubricated?

My 870 express synthetic model the pump action is sluggish after I reassembled..why is that

Anonymous,
If by sluggish you mean it's hard to pump a new shell in you might check the alignment of the fore and tube assembly where the two long arms go into the receiver assembly. You might look at the shell latches and make sure their going up and down freely. I use q-tips to oil the areas where metal meets metal inside the receiver. After working your weapon, disassemble it and look for wearing in the blue for possible places for hang ups. I hope this gives you some ideas where to look. Ray

I have a feed problem with my Remington 1100 12 gauge. With two shells in the magazine, on ejecting a shell from the firing chamber the feed jams because the second shell in the magazine is not stopped,...

You have a shell stop that is either bent or worn, I think there are 2 in there, would have to look. Go to Gunparts.com for the view and order parts, might find them on ebean. Hope th is helps.

MY remington 1100 would not cycle second shell and now it will not allow me to put a second shell in

the lock spring is probably dirty, take it to a gunsmith for an overhaul and that should solve it

What causes my 870 to pump and eject two shells at one time

The cartridge stop is sticking and you should give the gun a good cleaning and see if that helps...

The part that ejects my bullets out

Not certain for sure, but that part is called the extractor. It's a tiny hooked shaped device that grabs the rear part of the shell to eject the shell. Good Luck

Remington 1100 12 gage won't load a shell from the magazine

Are you shooting very light load?
Have you tried different ammo?

Light loads may not produce enough energy to work the action properly.

If different ammo doesn't help, make sure the two holes inside the barrel ring are clean and gas from the barrel can pass through. Next I would check the o-ring for cracks. If you shoot lots of shells (competition clays) the recoil springs inside the stock or over the magazine tube may have become weak and need replacing.
