Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a Kenwood compact Hi-Fi system, model R-K701. Lately the CD player has been malfunctioning. When I put a disk in to play, I get a message saying "CHECK CD". I check the CD and put it back in, same thing happens. I try another CD - same message. I have run the cleaning CD, turned the system on and off, reset the clock. I have tested all the CDs rejected by the Kenwood on my Yamaha system and there is nothing wrong with them. You are my last resort before taking it back to the dealer, which is such a hassle.

Try a lens cleaner, if it has no effect you may have a faulty lens but try the cleaner first.

Canned air might also be effective just not too close to the lens, get the dirt and dust out incase that is the problem.

Kenwood hi fi componenet system no play error for dvd-r disc

Is it a DVD-R or DVD+R disc?

comment says -R just wanted to clarify, alot of players have trouble playing the -R discs. If you have your booklet for system, it should say in there otherwise they usually put a little sticker label, by the DVD tray with what file formats and discs it will play.

RCA am-fm steroe radio / dual cassette recorder & compact disc player model rp-9518A. when I try to play a disk it stops and then restarts again at all 5 stations need to know what may be the cause...

I assume that the problem occurs on the cd player. If this problem occurs only at this cd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alcohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case you can, use a Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol to clean up the cd lens manually. In case this doesn’t solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Connection problems

If the CD player has left and right outputs and the receiver has those inputs for a CD or DVD then there's a start.
Speakers...match them up to positive and negative with no power to either component.

I have a tascam CC 222 cassette compact disk player. sometimes I get a disk error message and cannot even play a compact disk. I there a reset or some other way to avoid this problem

Hi James

It is probably an optics problem causing you symptom. Does the machine consistanly not play the any discs, or just particular discs. Either the lens is dirty, or you have an failure occurring in the optic block. CD lens cleaner discs are generally a waste of time, so I would suggest that you remove the lid, and clean the laser lens. with a cotton bud moistened with windex, then gently polish off with a dry one to be sure no smears are left behind. See how this goes. The other common problem with not playing discs is a lazy spindle motor, identified by the disc atempting to spin, but not getting up to speed. Try cleaning the lens first, and let me know if you still have problems.

Graeme

DVD MALFUNCTION

DVDs and CDs are formated with regional encoding 1-6. If your player does not support the format, it will not play the disk. You might try looking up your brand/model player online to see if it has a regional patch code which you can enter via remocon.
