Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Difficulty sending faxes, allign cartridges

I use my HP 6110 for a small business & am faxing documents frequently. Usually, I cannot complete my faxes as the last page is stuck on "SENDING PAGE --------." In order to fax all the documents I want to, I I often have to "reboot" my machine, refax the document & hope that the recipient receives the entire fax. Often, it takes two times to go through this process to be successful. I recently replaced the black cartridge & when the printer prompts one to PRESS ENTER TO PRINT THE ALIGN PAGE" it only prints 1/4 of what it's suppose to, thus preventing me from aligning the cartridges. I have reinstalled them, cleaned the cartridges, repeated the entire, replace cartridge process & the printer still indicates "PRESS ENTER TO PRINT THE ALIGN PAGE" to align cartirdges. What am I doing wrong or should I just shoot the printer?
THANK YOU.......DENISE

    DEAR FIXYA GUYS:

RECEIVED YOUR SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM WITH MY HP 6110 INKJET ALL IN ONE PRINTER. I HAVE TRIED UNPLUGGING THE PRINTER WITHOUT SUCCESS. IN TERMS OF FAXING TOO MANY DOCUMENTS @ ONE TIME, ACTUALLY, THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M REFERRING TO. EVEN IF I FAX ONLY TWO DOCUMENTS THE FAX INDICATES "SENDING PAGE 2" & IT DOESN'T SEND IT. I HAVE TO CANCEL THE FAX & START THE PROCEDURE ALL OVER AGAIN. I APPRECIATE YOUR SUGGESTIONS BUT, I'VE ALREADY TRIED THEM. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS OR DO I SERIOUSLY NEED TO SHOOT THE PRINTER THIS TIME?

1. Clean the ink cartridge contact and printer contact with a cotton swab that is moist with water. Align the printer again.
2. Tried power cycle. Unplug the power cord of the product while its still on and then after 30 seconds plug it back in.
3. Reset the printer. Unplug the power cord of the product while its still on and before you plug it back in, press and hold # and 6. Keep holding the 2 buttons until the printer would say "reset"

Well you could shoot the printer but, im not sure that would be satisyfing. what i would do is unplug the machine. leave it unplugged for a few min. than plug it back in. let the machine warm up and instead of doing the alignment try doing a print test page.

now on faxing i have an hp as well just a diffrent model and i have to send only a few pages at a time. i think the machine can only fax so many at a time because it requires a rest period during a certain amount of things being processed. i only fax a bout 3 to 5 pages at a time to bypass that problem. i do belive that the machine is set up to take a break after so many pages. at least that is the way mine is set up and your is i bit new than mine so i belive your will be set up the same way...

Have you tried to uninstall the existing driver and reinstall the driver back to check if that works.

Step one: Reinitialize and check the fax machine

    1. Disconnect
the power cord from the back of the fax machine and from the wall
outlet. The fax machine will reinitialize when it is plugged back in.
You must disconnect the power cord, turning the fax off using the power
button will not reinitialize the fax. Leave the power cord disconnected
      for now.

    2. Verify
that the phone cable is fully inserted into the fax machine. If your
model has a removable line interface unit (LIU) that the phone line
plugs into, verify that it is securely snapped in place.
      If
the fax is an HP Officejet R80 series model, also verify that the cable
that runs from the automatic document feeder assembly to the back of
      the all-in-one base is connected.

    3. Reconnect
the power cord to the unit and then plug it in to the wall outlet.
After the fax reinitializes and is ready, try to send and receive faxes
again. If the problem still exists, continue to Step two: Check the
      connections.

    Step two: Check the connections

Check the cable connections to the fax following the directions below.

    NOTE:

The HP Fax 1050 does not have a 2-ext or auxiliary port for use with other phone appliances.

    Examine
how the telephone cable is connected to the fax. The fax must be
connected directly to the wall phone jack and the cable should be
plugged into a jack on the fax that is labeled Line, 1 - Line, To Wall
Jack, or has an image of a wall jack.

    Any
other devices that must be plugged into the same phone jack can be
connected to the auxiliary ports on the fax as is shown below.

If you have changed any cable connections, try sending and receiving faxes to determine if you still have a problem.

Hi,

You can send the Word document as Fax from Your PC to Printer

Open the document and Click File menu and Click Print option
Choose the HP Officejet 6110 series Fax ( not the regular printer icon )
Click Print Button

You will find a cover page to enter the fax details
Enter the details and click SEND FAX button - the Printer will start dialing the # to send Fax ( word document )

Wont send message. Error no 442

This error indicates that the receiving machine (receiver) cannot receive the fax you just sent. The reasons might be unexpected shutdown of the machine (Receiver's machine) just before it completely received [or partially printed] the file you had sent or power failure during the process.
Another reason is, when we send color fax from Hp machine to another Machine (non-hp), this happens due to incompatibility issue.
Solutions are;
1. Restart both the machine after deleting the recently sent/received fax.
2. Send black and white only, not color.
3. Try again after the phone line seems not much busy which means when there's better transmission capability.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How do I fix an "error 442" on the fax part of my hp 6110 all-in-one

Per HP:

Definition

An error occurred during transmission after one or more partial pages were sent. The sending machine was unable to restart the control channel connection(handshake) before sending more data. This error typically occurs when the receiving fax disconnects after receiving part of a page. It can also be caused if the receiving fax is using a fax format incompatible with the HP fax (usually during color faxing).

Solution

Try the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

Please help me send a fax on my HP 5610

Send a fax
You can send a fax in a variety of ways. Using the control panel, you can send a blackand-
white or color fax from your HP All-in-One. You can also send a fax manually
from an attached phone. This allows you to speak with the recipient before sending
the fax.
If you frequently send faxes to the same numbers, you can set up speed dial entries.
For more information on setting up speed dial entries, see Set up speed dialing.
Send a basic fax
You can easily send a single- or multiple-page black-and-white fax by using the
control panel, as described here. If you want to send a color or photo fax, see the
onscreen HP Image Zone Help.
Note If you need printed confirmation that your faxes were successfully sent,
enable fax confirmation before sending any faxes. For more information, see
Print fax confirmation reports.
Tip You can also send a fax manually from a phone or by using monitor
dialing. These features allow you to control the pace of your dialing. They are
also useful when you want to use a calling card to charge the call and you
need to respond to tone prompts while dialing. For more information, see Send
a fax manually from a phone or Send a fax using monitor dialing.
1. Load your originals, with the print side up, into the document feeder tray. If you
are sending a single-page fax, such as a photograph, you can also load your
original on the glass.
Note If you are sending a multiple-page fax, you must load the originals
in the document feeder tray. You cannot fax a multiple-page document
from the glass.
2. Press Fax.

HP 6110 not able to send or receive fax

I tried to find information on replacing the modem to no avail. Unfortunately most products of this nature do not allow for replacing the individual components.
However I did find the following info on HP's site for troubleshooting problems with faxing. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpu02151&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=79477&dlc=en&lang=en#Not_working Hope this helps!
