Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

No visual i just turned on my xbox. i play it alot, but not all the time. most days 2-4 hours. anyway, sound is good but no image. is this the e-74 problem. i am still underwarranty, so it would be best to have x box fix it. but once i am no longer covered could this be fixed by me for less than what xbox would charge? rwspradley@yahoo.com

Your about to get the red ring, code 74... The graphics card is going bad. Mine did the same thing nearly a year to the day after I purchased it. Get on Xbox's website and follow there recommendations and see about sending it in to get fixed. There wont be any good quick permanent fix unfortunately without involving Microsoft... Hope it helps

I have 1 red light

This Sounds like a Error 74 you are speaking of.

This may be fixed for a short time by unplugging every cord from your xbox and leaving it for 30 min to an hour. tho this is only a workaround if it is under warranty i Highly recommend getting it replaced

An e 74 involves the GPU and will require soldering to truly fix and now there are a fuw things you can do one is to call Microsoft and get Assistance by phone

1-800-4MY-XBOX
International (direct dial to U.S.): 425-635-7180
Hearing Impaired (TDD device): 1-866-740-9269 or 425-635-7102
Hours of operation (every day):
9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern Time
6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Pacific Time

-Or-

Try it your self i do NOT recommend do this as it will VOID your warranty but if you feel compelled to fix it your self

This is a video showing how someone fixed there E74 for the second time. The xbox was reported to be currently playing fine, has a few games of halo 3 online to test and the box worked without any problems :)

Go to xbox-scene.com if you need any other infomation regarding xbox repair.

Good luck with whatever you deside to do!,
