This is an extremely simple unit: a power cord, a power switch, a motor powered at the mains that drives the platter thru a belt, with a small switch attached to the arm and a small electronic board to process the sound and sent it to the outputs.
If the unit is totally dead (the platter doesn't turn and the humming of the motor can't be heard when you move the arm) then it's either a power cable problem (it has a break in it) or one of the 2 switches has failed because its contacts have been corroded by the humidity in the air. Just check them with a simple multimeter and replace the failed one. The switches might be revived if you repeatedly activate them - with the unit unplugged of course.

How to put the belt on aiwa stereo full automatic turntable px e855

Lift off the rubber cover. On some turntables, you can pull the whole metal platter straight-up now. Put the belt on the outside of the bottom of the platter and drop platter back into the turntable base. Do NOT put the rubber cover back on yet. There should be one or two openings in the platter where you can see the pulley for the motor. Slowly rotate the turntable platter until the opening is over the top of the motor pulley. Now use a nail file to gently pull the rubber belt over the pulley. It should spin freely now. Now put the rubber cover back on and try it out. Belts are available from MCM Electronics and over online vendors. Let me know how it goes. Good luck.

I bought a Line6 M13 stompbox in the US and brought it across to South Africa. When i plugged it in using a Line6 PX-2 power adapter and an international converter....the pedal worked fine but started to...

The PX-2 should work fine as long as you are on 120 or 110 volt service. If you have 220 volt power, you have done damage... likely to the PX-2 and probably to the power input circuits of the M13.
If you are on 220, then you need to use a TRANSFORMER type voltage reducer before going to the PX-2. If you are on 220, then replace the PX-2 and take the M13 in for service replacement of parts where the power comes in and is regulated.

My panasonic TH 42 Px 70 BA tv has blown main fuse on supply, and taken out both fuses on power board ref 21AF 1499232.No visual signs of electrical damage to board .What could be probs?

The number one most common issue is bad capacitors on one or more boards. the whole industry is suffering from these bad capacitors. The preservatives the used for these caps was no good and thus they only last between 3 and 5 years instead of the 10-20 years they were designed for. Look for any blown caps, they could be mushroomed, split or bulging. If you find these have them replaced. but then there is really no garante that something else did not burn up when they went bad. You might want to spend the money to get it thouroughly checked out and then decide if a new set is cheaper than a repair.

Hi. When I switch on my NEC 42" Plasma (PX-42VM3A), the on light changes from red to green but then nothing happens. I have box-loads of spare parts but would appreciate any assistance in pointing me in...

CHECK FUSE AT Y-SUSTAINER PCB. IF BLOWN, DO NOT REPLACE IT! LOOK AT SCAN CONVERTORS BOARDS. THEY ARE CONNECTED BETWEEN Y-SUS AND PLUGS FROM DISPLAY(LEFT SIDE WITH FACE DOWN, BACK OPEN). SCENARIO: SCANS GOT BURNED(LOOK FOR A SIGNS AT THOSE LONG BOARDS: UPPER&LOWER).FIND ANY IMPERFECTIONS: REPLACE ALL 3 BOARDS: Y-SUS, UP/LOW SCANS.LAST THING: IF FUSE IS OK, CHECK POWER SUPPLY FOR BLOATED CAPACITORS(BIGGEST BOARD IN A MIDDLE OF THE SET) SAME SERVICE POSITION.
GOOD LUCK,
LET ME KNOW HOW TI GOES.

Aiwa turntable PX E855 squeaking may need oil

lift off the rubber platter, the turntable should just lift off but there may be a circlip to remove around the spindle if so use needle nose plyers.

When the turntable is off you should be able to see where the noise is coming from by using your fingers.

Only use light machine oil very sparingly

Will not turn on

With the power cord getting hot it sounds like there is something up with the power supply section. Perhaps a faulty transformer or something.

Goodmans 1430R TV (bought 10 years ago) switched off in middle of program by itself and no longer works.

Oh come on man the sets tired!!!LOL no really you got plenty of use out of this bugger. Your problem sounds like something opened in the power supply and since the sets all solid state theres no user serviceable parts inside them. If you really wanted to put cash into a 10 year old set for an estimate/? i would not . But if you like the set go for it. Good luck
