Question about Samsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Having an issue with a Samsung HCP4752W rear projection hdtv...

I was looking up how to possibly fix an issue with my TV and I came across your post about THE DREADED 1500UF POWER CAPACITOR ISSUE.

My TV comes on for a second the shuts itself off, I can get it to stay on after about 20-30 min of turning it on/shutting itself off.

Could this be this issue? If so where and how do I look for the blown capacitor, and if so is it something that can be fixed?

Thank you very much in advance,

Steve

The picture is in good shape, so picture distortion is not an issue, and after the initial turning itself off for 20 min or so, it will stay on all day long 8-12+ hours.

Did not notice any bad transistors on the boards.

Also I have noticed that when it goes from being warm in the house to when the AC comes on it will shut off by itself.

Also when my daughter (2 years ol) jumps in front of it it will shut off.

So movement, temp change to cold, and initial turn on after night is some causes, hoping that this info might be able to determine the cause a little better.

Thank you very much for the help!

    Steve

If its on for that long its probably not a main capacitor issue a blown capacitor of that size would
have some distortion in its shape look for bulging at the top or bottom or fluid leaks at the base
a good capacitor looks like a small tin can
from the sound of it your problem is elsewhere if the picture is the picture is good then it may be a regulator or power transistor if the picture is distorted then its in your convergence circuit.

My tv picture started going out today on ly lg flat screen tv it goes in and out model nuber 47lv4400 the tv is 3 years old please help

possible power supply issue know on LG and samsung models would require tech to open the power supply and look for defective Capacitors I have another solution on this issue for a samsung tv. the failing capacitors will show black on the caps and be swollen, they should be replaced with same or higher voltage ones. ensure this work is done by a competent engineer as electic shock is a danger with this task.

I hope this was useful.

Digital lifestyle tv mt322 power supply need 1500uf 16volt location on power supply

Here is a picture with the 1500uf cap circled in red. It really is best to replace all 7 capacitors with 25v parts not the original 16v ones, one later power supply builds they did this because the 16v caps failed to fast.

When powering on it keeps repeating "warming up please wait", no ready sign....

In my case, I had the same problem and it was a bad capacitor on the power supply board located in the back of the computer. Was 1500uF @ 10V, but all I had was 1000uF @ 16V so stuck it in and it seems to have fixed the problem and is now printing well. I think Samsung sources low quality capacitor suppliers out of China as I have had personally had the same type of failure on a Samsung LCD monitor and TV. If you search internet you will see that this is a very common complaint, and you can buy capacitor replacement kits on Ebay. This guy had same problem and posted a video and picture (my board had the exact same failed capacitor--FWIW if capacitor has a "bubbled" not flat top, it is most likely bad, and also look for discoloration at the bottom on the circuit board from excessive heat): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlFzktcI61U

Power supply will not start. replaced 3 bad 1500uf@35volt caps, still will not power up?? (715t2243-1 power supply)

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Niko Sv3706 - When plugged in the Red idle power light is on but when turned on the light goes green then completely shuts off with no light nothing on screen when turned on

Just fixed mine, when plugged in red light comes and goes, sometimes it ststays on but when I turn it on the green light comes on then off. Opened up tv, there is a heat shield of some sort, take off, there is a board where plug goes into the wall,it also has three more plugs plus a ground that is screwed to the tv.I looked at the board and there were two capacitors that were bulged and had brown stuff about to come out the top. They were 1500uf 16v 105c, I changed them only I made them 25v instead of 16. And boom life was good. Good luck and sorry for my spelling.

On my hls5679w the tv won't turn on and the lights all flash

HLS5679W has power supply issues. Two capacitors need to be replaced as Samsung put in units of the wrong voltage...
CM860 and CS860 need to be at least 2000mfd/25vdc radial (both leads come from one end) electrolytic capacitors. It is recommended to have a service tech do this you'll need to pull the power supply out of the set. Parts are cheap (Radio Shack for about $2.99 or so each) but you must be able to solder to replace...
Good luck!

ILO LCT32HA36 will not power on

same thing happened to my ilo. There are four capacitors that are bad on the power board. You can usually tell its bad because at the top it bulges out. Here is what you need to do. Unplug the tv, open up your ilo find the power board ( the power cord plugs into it). Then find the capacitors that are bad (they are the around things usually in blue color) and remove them by soldering the other side. On mine there where three 1000uf 16v and one 470uf 35v. Those are the ones that need replacing. I replaced them with a higher voltage rating 1000uf 35v and 470uf 50v. All you need to do is solder them back on but make sure you solder them back the right way (plus goes to plus on the board or you will be in trouble). I found the capacitors at radio shack for about 1.50 a peice. If you dont know how to solder look it up on youtube. If that does not work there might be couple more bad capacitors that need replaceing just need to find them and you can tell by a small bulging top.
