Swede32169,
Try the buttons on the front or side of the monitor to get to the menu using the + or - to maneuver Thu the menu items until you see the "sun" that's for brightness the half filled circle is for contrast that helps too.

How to adjust screen brightness

Hello,

follow the steps below;
At the right down part of your screen, right-click on your battery bar, scroll to "Adjust screen brightness"
Look down, at the middle of the screen, you will find screen brightness there.

I hope this helped.

Regards.

I have a 7550 and the screen lights up but the menu does not come up - I have replaced the batteries. It was working when my sister gave it to me a couple of months ago.

Okay....I don't know if this will help, but this is one thing I learned about my Pfaff 7550. Sometimes it will look like the screen is lit up but there is no menu or anything and I have found that the "display lucidity control" dial is the problem. If you look just below the buttons that are in a semi-circular shape, you can see a really tiny little dial. It can be easily missed if you don't know where to look. What I have found is that sometimes the screen lights up but there are no words/menu and if you turn the "display lucidity control" dial, the words/menu will appear. As my machine has gotten older, it seems I need to do this more often. The first time it happened to me, I freaked because I thought the display (even though it was lit up) had blanked. THAT was when I discovered that teeny little dial that solved my problem. I don't know if this is your problem, but give it a try and see if works for you like it did for me. And by the way, if you need to see a diagram of the buttons on the Pfaff 7550, here is one. The "display lucidity control" dial is marked #23 http://www.manualowl.com/m/Pfaff/creative-7550/Manual/333556

I have compaq 7550 computer and my screen was to bright so i started trying to fix it well i messed it up real bad it douesnt fit my screen now plus it flickers now what do i do

RMB click on the desktop and select properties from the drop down menu.

LMB click on the "Settings" tab.

Select "True colour"

Move the slider to read 1024 X 768.

Change the refresh rate to 50Hz.

This should get you back on an even keel, you should then be able to fine tune the settings to what you prefer.

The screen is tilted

You can adjust the keystone of the monitor..
this will remove the trapezoidal shape and square up the image to the monitor.
Check on the monitor for the menu controls and you should be able to find the keystone adjustments... allows you to adjust the upper width, lower width, etc...

Screen on 7550 is upside down

there is a Windows XP setting to invert the picture (I guess it is if you hang the CRT upside down from the ceiling). I don't remember the key presses needed, but check under Properties for the CRT
