Question about Projection Televisions

Screen went blank while still on. unplugged power cord and when I plugged it back in the power on light went green. Problem remains

    This is a 27" tv purchased from Costco. I can turn off the power with the switch in back. But when I turn it back it on it will not respond to the remote or the front panel switch.

    I waited about 2 hours and the thing "fixed" itself.
    I believe it was just too hot. Once it cooled down it worked just fine. I will keep your solution for future reference.

Resolution:

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.


Verify that the AC power cord is connected securely to a working wall outlet.
Unplug the power cord of the television from the AC outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 1 minute.
Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
Attempt to turn on the television.
NOTES:

If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service will be required.
Make a note of the STANDBY or TIMER flash pattern when referring the television to service.

    Based on your description, the most likely diagnosis
    is a failure of the power supply stage although please understand that
    TVs are quite complex and diagnosing one without being in the same room
    is not easy.This area of the TV comprises some fuses, a bridge rectifier (4 diodes) a couple of capacitors, fusible resistors and a regulator. All are prone to failure.
    That
    stuff can be checked quite easily if you have a multimeter and a
    soldering iron. Is this something you think you are capable or willing
    to do?
    The first thing to check would be the main fuse.
    If you don't feel comfortable doing this, the repair cost will likely be between $200 and $400 depending on the problem.

I have a Sony KDS-60A2020. TV went blank. No flashing lights. I have sound, but the screen is blank.


have you tried a power reset, unplug all components from the TV unplug it from the wall, then push and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, then plug all components back in, plug it into to wall then turn it on again.

The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
  1. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  4. Turn on the television.

The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.
If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection TV that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the TV to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the TV is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the TV.
  5. Turn on the television. NOTE: If the TV does not turn on immediately, the fan may need to finish its cycle. This is part of the cooling process for some projection TVs and is normal operation. After the fan turns off, attempt to turn the TV on again.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

Tv went blank, wont come back on.


If those green lights on the board are going dim, then yes it should be repaired. This is likely a bad main filter capacitor on the primary side of the switch mode transformer. Should not cost over $150 at the most. Easy fix

Most likely a capacitor in the power supply went out. otherwise it may be a bad relay if there happens to be one.
Most reason for a tv not turning on at all is bad power supply

Power indicator light blinking


Check soldered in micro fuses...F850, F851 etc.....
1) solder jumper wires on signal board = 008,010,017,048,600
2) Check / replace STK392-110 convergence IC's with Toshiba
part # 23135090 or upgade to Hitachi part # CZ01341

Is the set completly dead...does the green light flash then go off. or when you plug it up does it come on for a moment?

Flashing Green Light on Front of 73" Projection TV


on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.
