When you see the a picture with missing color, but the television is capable of showing colors on screen you have a cabling problem from the device sending the picture to the TV.
If you are using component video, three separate connectors red, green, and blue, and they are all matched to correctly colored termal on each end, be sure all cables fit tight. If the cables are tightly connected to the terminal of matching color at each end you will need to replace the cable.

If you are using S-video, older connection type where the cable end is a ring with four tiny metal pins plus a plastic square, one of the bins is either bent or broken. If you are unable to adjust the pins to fix the cable replace it.
