Unfortunately if you can not read the code, you will need to reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure the router. You can download the here

You might want to see if the cable company has the code in the service report from his visit.

Best of luck, Jim

If you can't figure out the security key then you can reset the router. There should be a small button probably inside a little hole on your router that says reset by it. Press that with something small like a paperclip and it will be set back to the default settings.

Laptop says no internet connection

First you need to ensure proper connection and filtering. Make sure the source cable is plugged into the Linksys router first. Direct connections must be made to the router, meaning the cable to your main computer should come from the router, not the main source.

Next make sure that the connection is made. You should see a light on the router indicating proper internet connection. Once this is accomplished, connect your main computer and you should have access to the internet on it.

Now comes the easy but somewhat tricky part (tricky only because icons can vary a little). If you haven't already done so, run the setup disk for Linksys. It's has simple, easy-to-follow instructions to set up your network. Now for the laptop. On the blue bar at the bottom of the laptop screen there should be an icon indicating internet connection. Click on that icon to show available wireless networks. Most likely your Linksys router will show up as a secure network. When you click on that connection it will ask you for a WEP key. That key is usually a 10 digit alpha-numeric key written on the back of the router. Sometimes it's on the box the router came in. Sometimes it requests a 12 digit WEP key, in which case simply add two zeros to the front of that same key. If you set up a password for your wireless network you will need that as well.

NOTE: if you have neighbors close, you should always secure your network with a password.

You may need to shut down and restart the laptop in order for the changes to take place.

It sounds confusing, but once you start you'll find that it's actually fairly straight forward. I hope this helps. Good luck!

New laptop can not connect to Di-524 router

connect the router to pc via a ethernet cable, then there should be a reset pin hole on the back, press this, the router will restart and clear the password, restart pc next, then type in the routers address again and you should connect.

You can then remove the cable and connect using the wireless connection

Ok. i have the exact same problem, but i use linksys. I have has geeksquad and they dont know. I have only one option i havent tried. try to just hook up the modem to your router only. Buy a wireless adapter for your home computer. If it doesnt work, return it for a refund. I feel for you guys because i have been going through hell and it drives me crazy that even geeksquad doesnt know. (By the way dont buy that garbage when the people say you need a new router, because they just want more money.)
