I purchased a Memory Stick Duo Adapter with a 2GB Lexar Memory Stick Pro Duo card. However I am unable to copy the pictures off the camera to my laptop. I can see the pictures on the camera but when I connect it to the laptop and view the contents of the memory stick the thumbnail imagesdon't show and I'm unable to copy or move them to my hard disk.

I have Sony DSC P71 and have the same problem. One of the limitations of the camera is the 128 MB memory stick, so I purchased a 1 GB Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo to increase capacity. When I insert the stick (in the adaptor) I get a C:13:01 error message (memory stick error). Will the camera simply not under any circumstances accept a larger memory stick, or is there a fix for this??

Memory problem:

Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

When I power up it runs for 4 seconds and shuts down

Hi There!!
This sounds to me like you have a power supply problem. Anything that you added extra to your system, even a fan or cd drive can cause the system to shut down. You will have to get a more powerfull powersupply.
Hope this will help you.

3 short beeps.

This indicates a memory problem

Open computer and reseat memory

Sometimes when the computer is moved and/or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

Swap memory location

If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer.
If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

Did not boot and with 3 beep sound

Remove added memory
If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory.
  • Additional information about determining the type of memory to use in a memory upgrade can be found on document CH000910.

Try another computers memory
If you have access to another computer that uses the same type of memory try using its known good memory in your computer.
If another computers memory works you know that you have bad memory. If another computers memory does not work and it is compatible with your computer unfortunately your motherboard and/or the slots on the motherboard are defective causing it to be unable to properly read the memory, which means the motherboard will have to be replaced.
Replace memory
If you've determined or believe that the memory in y our computer is bad we suggest that you replace it.

MY PSP IS UNABLE TO READ A MEMORY STICK

Try different known good memory sticks and if they don't read any of them, then the slot is bad and since thats connected to the main board, it would need to be replaced.
