Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else- like the control board not feeding it the correct voltage ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a really old maytag A606 washer. There is a terrible knocking sound when i try to fill the washer with cold water. I switched the dial to a hot wash, and it works perfectly. Do i need to replace the...

Have you taken the hoses off and checked to see if there is a screen in the hoses?............or on the machine itself its a longshot but usually there are little mesh screen filters either in the hoses or on the machine itself. If its knocking its either dry (no water) or the solenoid is going bad.

Cheap fix possibilty get a Y connector hose and you can mix your hot and cold water in there then just feed it through the hot water side. Or just hook your cold water hose up to the hot water side and just wash with cold water. If you are looking to just get it running and save money.

A couple thoughts anyways

Hot water fills with hot and cold not strictly hot what is the fix

see the causes: and proceed with common sense. God bless you
Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests: Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on. Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct. Is there hot water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, completely replace it.

i've found problems with the temp. switch on this washer part number W10184148 and it's around 40 dollars, also on the rinse cycle the washer only uses cold water.what happens when you use just the hot?i had a lady that her water would start to fill and then the water would stop and the pipes in the house would start making a banging sound.if you order the part from http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Switch/W10184148/1468990 repair clinic and if this isn't your problem which i think it is from how you discribe it you can send the part back and get your money back for up to a year.good luck with your washer and next time you buy something and it doesn't work right get right on it

When set on delicate cold/cold water, it starts to fill with cold but switches to hot water after a few seconds

Sounds like you've got the hoses switched, and the cold water you're feeling is just what is in the hot water lines until the lines get purged. Try filling on the hot setting and see if cold or hot comes out; my guess is you'll get cold water on the hot setting.

My Inglis washer machine (#111-07) which we bought 2 weeks ago, doesn't use any hot water when set to the warm cycle (in between cold and hot), so i can only wash with entirely cold or superhot water...

Hi Elllie602 (!) from retired Englishman in SW France,

2 weeks old? Under guarantee/warantee? Get in touch with the vendor/shop!!!
Even if it takes only cold water for the warm wash (which is a bit daft- normally washers mix the hot and cold accordingly) and heats it, that is not how most hot n' cold washers work.

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.

Washer completing washing cycle but door will not open comes up with E07 door opens when machine switched to off

The main cause for this e70 error is that the hoses would have swapped (hot to cold, cold to hot). It means the washer isn't getting cold water.Try to switch between the hoses. Another possibility is the faucets are not turned on.Hope this solution will fix your problem for sure.

We can only use hot water in our Whirlpool 7.5kg WFE1070BD 1000RPM - how to we shut off the hot water and use cold water? We have tried only cold but the machine will not operate. Please help. Many...

Turn off the water to the machine. Disconnect the cold water hose from the back of the machine and put it in a large bucket. Turn on the water to see if you get full-pressure cold water from the hose. If not, the shut-off valve or other plumbing has a problem.

If you do get cold water from the hose, check the strainer inside the hose fitting on the back of the washer. Clean it if it is clogged. If you still don't get cold water in the machine, you have a problem with either the solenoid valve or the cold water fill contacts in the timer (the timer won't start until the tub is up to the selected level, but if the valve isn't opening or the supply line is otherwise blocked, the machine will never fill). Sometimes in this case you can hear the solenoid valve humming (normally the sound is masked by the running water).

If the problem is a clogged strainer, clean out the hot water strainer also.

I find I get better wash results with warm water (runs both hot and cold for the wash cycle). The soap is more active than in cold water, so I don't need quite so much, and the machine doesn't take as long to finish a cycle since it fills faster. Of course, the cold water has to be running to get the energy savings compared to hot only.

No/low water inlet. Diag mode both ht & cold lights flash

first test water valve ohms reading, this fault could be either control module or water valve.first open top panel to see valves. turn power off to unit. try putting the hot water valve wire to the cold and the cold to the hot. hopefully they will reach, sometimes they dont. then put panel back on with loose screws. turn power on , select low water ,and hot fill.push start button but make sure your hoses r connected and turned on. the reason i"m telling u how to do this is to eliminate the control board as being faulty if the cold water comes into unit then the problem is your computer, if no water comes in it is your water valve.i hope this helps if u still need help please reply

Whirlpool top loader: very loud pumping sounds when filling

You are experiencing surge pressure due to the ATC. It is increasing then reducing the hot water slow to maintain a pre-determined temperature.
I am not aware of a disable or bypass procedure.
