I bought a advent laptop 20/7/08 a vista. it was the last one from the shelf and i didnt get any disks with it, i asked for them but they said i couldnot have them.anyway i was on it just this minute and a screen came up saying the vista key is not authenticated and to contact advent now. i dont understand what is happening please help

Windows vista has to be activated after a certain amount of days if not it will not let you operate it advent tech support can help you with this my mom has the same one and we had the same problem after we called them the issue was taken care of and we have had no problems since also be advised they can get you with the disks you should have it will cost about $20

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.

Copy windows vista from my laptop to my acer pc


you can not just copy vista. you would need to get an install cd of vista and install it onto the pc. this still may not fix your internet problem as there is no guarantee that vista will even have the drivers for your pc components.

Two pcs running vista home edition wired to router ok. laptop wireless ok. advent pc running windows xp wireless cannot see belkin router but can see outher router in my area. router is a belkin N wireless...


Check the router settings, if the router is set to only use 802.11N wireless it won't pick up a computer that is using 802.11G or 802.11B wireless.

Advent webcam ,just boyght laptop can't find webcam software, any ideas?


i also bought the advent 5611 and found no webcam software. you can download any software and it will work such as cyberlink you cam etc when the webcam is working the light will go red

The disk drive on my new advent 5311 laptop will not read any disk i insert into it, instead it will just ask me to insert a cd into the drive when there already is one.


Your disk drive cannot read cd at all, that why it keeps asking to insert cd. Just simply return back where your laptop bought. I think the have warranty of it, it will be replaced for the defective disk drive.

Just bought an Advent 5401 laptop. cant get the webcam to work.there is no program to use it or any kind of help in the box it came in. it runs on vista.


chances are you may need to get a driver for this device.. and depending how old the device is and how streamline it is.. you may or may net get the driver... google the name of the webcam and add the words "vista driver" to see if a driver is avaliable online or you may want to try the webcam manufacturer website to see if they have made the driver avaliable on their website. I found the driver for vista for and old webcam for a customer checking on forums related to that webcam.

dowload vista recovery iso on a difrent machine burn to disk then boot viao with disk read option make a choice

Don't panic, the situation is not too bad, as the laptop's hardware is still all ok.
The Ghost software probably did not work because you did not make a complete bootable ghost CD from Windows when computer was working, or you did not do the ghosting procedure properly, or finally the ghost cd is corrupted.
if F11 does not work, it means that the recovery partition on hard disk had probably been corrupted by the virus.
Check if your laptop is covered by some insurance or extended guaranty to cover expenses for system reinstall.
Best way to proceed is asking a copy of restore cd fro your model from HP.
Contact them and ask how to obtain a copy of CD in your region, In UK they charge you £25 or so to send you the disk.
If for some reason you cannot get the restore cd, you will have to re-install system from a generic windows cd, possibly the same Windows version to validate the licence on Windows sticker at the bottom of your laptop (eg. Vista Home, XP home edition, XP professional etc.).
If you have to use a generic Windows disk you will need to download all drivers from HP. and install them after installing Windows.
Also a good choice can be locating a computer repair shop in your area and having the system re-install done using the licence number printed on the sticker at the bottom of your laptop. This job usually is not too expensive, in London, where I work, we charge £45 to do system restore.

Just purchased laptop model p-6860fx and noticed no back up disk for vista or any programs. i bought laptop at bestbuy.

There should be utility disk. and if the unit is license to microsoft then you should have a windows vista cd .

.Please contact the vendor for any utility disk support.
