Sounds like the waste tank is full, you will need to remove the waste ink somehow.

to reset the printer...

1. first turn off your printer
2. push the b/w + color + stop buttons together and hold
3. push the power on button and hold (so you'll now be holding down 4 buttons together)
4. Don't release all the buttons until you see the light indicator is blinking and then a message display on the lcd
5. release all the buttons
6. push the color button (once)
7. turn off the printer
8. turn it on again.

I switch my CX6600 on but all I get is the exclamation mark light up. |The displau says that par6ts are at the end of their service life. No warning! Anyone help please

That message indicates that the porous waste ink pads inside your product are near the end of their service life. Epson recommends replacing the printer, but if you want to continue using it, I'd suggest having the printer serviced at an Epson Customer Care Center. You may also be able to have the ink pads replaced by an independent service provider and use the Ink Pad Reset Utility to reset the Ink Pad Counter to continue using the printer. However, replacement of ink pads is relatively expensive and may not be a good investment for lower cost printers because the printers' other components also may be near the end of usable life. Hope that helps!

Parts inside end life

Q: What should I do if my printer driver displays the message parts inside my printer are reaching their end of service life?

A: See the Epson Ink Pad Reset Utility page.
Epson Ink Pads Reset Utility

If your product is displaying an end of life service message, please view and complete the required information below to proceed.

Please explain the message I am getting in my printer driver that says parts inside my printer are reaching their end of service life.

Like so many other products, all Epson consumer ink jet products have a finite life span due to component wear during normal use. At some point, the product will reach a condition where either satisfactory print quality cannot be maintained or components have reached the end of their usable life. This is the normal product life cycle for highly mechanical devices like printers. This message is a warning that certain parts have reached the end of their usable life and that your printer will no longer work until it is serviced.

What parts are we talking about?

The message refers to the ink pads, which are actually a number of porous pads in the printer that collect, distribute, and very importantly contain the ink that is not used on printed pages. Ink is collected by these pads during the initial setup of the product, during cleaning cycles and when printing borderless photographs. Most users will not receive this message before the printer is replaced for other reasons. Some high volume users or those who use the printer for many years may receive this message about ink pads before other components reach the end of their usable life.

Why does my printer stop functioning when I get the message?

Epson is committed to ensuring the proper operation of all our devices to minimize the risks of property damage or personal injury during the lifespan of the product. The printers are designed to stop operating at the point where further use without replacing the ink pads could create risks of property damage from ink spills or safety issues related to excess ink contacting an electrical component
.
Is there anything I can do to continue using my printer?

Epson recommends replacing the printer, but if you want to continue using it, Epson recommends having the printer serviced at an Epson Customer Care Center. You may also be able to have the ink pads replaced by an independent service provider and use the Ink Pad Reset Utility to reset the Ink Pad Counter to continue using the printer. Please note that replacement of ink pads is relatively expensive and may not be a good investment for lower cost printers because the printers' other components also may be near the end of usable life. Epson does not recommend ink pad replacement by users without technical training or resetting the Ink Pad Counter without replacing the ink pads.

Service life expired

Hi,

How long have you been using your printer? and how many pages have you printed and the quality of it?

The reason am asking is that it could be that your printer has reached a certain limit of its parts based on the no. of pages it has printer. Please take note that each part of your printer, especially the mechanical parts has certain limits based on the no. of pages it has printed. Based on my experience with epson printers is that, first to reach its limit is the porous pad, if it reach it limits it will disable your printer from printing further to protect it from further damage. Everytime you print some ink goes to waste and goes to the porous pad which means it could get full. Please bring you printer to an authorized epson service center to have the pad remove or whatever parts the limits reach first. After parts replacement the technician will use a software tool to reset the counter and voila :) Your printer should be working fine until it reach another limit. Note: All printer brands uses counter to protect their unit.

ERROR MESSAGE EPSON 925

Epson programmed their printer to monitor the waste ink counter and your printer has reached the maximum value allowed, you have to reset your printer to clear the waste ink counter.

You may read the information regarding "end of life" and "waste ink counter" here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

To reset the counter, download re-setter program here, install and follow the instruction in the web site.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

How do I reset protection counter for epson dx 7400

If the counter needs resetting you should have an error message saying that "parts inside your printer have reached the end of life" (If not then it is NOT the waste ink counter). If so then your first call is to the Epson Support site:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

You could also try third party utility's such as this one:

Hope this helps, please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks

Service required error

Ok.. aside from the fact that you've posted under the R300 Epson model thread you're still in luck.

The CX6600 has been documented (by me admittedly) with a complete guide to fitting an external tank and resetting the waste ink counter in the printer.

http://www.octoink.co.uk/store/pages/Epson-CX6600.html

Just to note: This is a commercial site but the information provided is generic and will help you fix the problem.

Service required error

Hi Cath.

Not sure why you would need the R260 service utility when your printer is the CX6600 but I'll answer both questions and hopefully you'll get everything you need.

The CX6600 problem is a relatively easy fix thanks to an article I wrote after fixing up one of these for my wife a few years ago. It includes information on resetting the protection (waste-ink) counter as well as redirecting the waste ink flow so that should cover that side of things.

Right... as to the R260.. You can reset the waste ink counter on that printer using the IPR_A10 utility from Epson.. Information about the utility and links for download are provided on wasteink.co.uk

Hope that solves the issues you're having...
