I have a canon pixma 258 (all in one printer). cartridges are full. The problem is it doesnt print or scan any document. If a print command is given, it gives an error ' printer is in use. An error has occured. Check status. Please tell me the solution

Observe how the power and error lights are flashing. Or count the times they are blinking and in what sequence. This is more accurate than error codes. Repost with this info so i can help you further.

i have a problem with my canon 258 i refill the color 811 but when i put it in the printer the color light is blinking and telling that the color cartridge is empty im using ciss
you can try to take out the color cartridge and set your printer settings to use blank ink or print in black only, then try to print again. Feel free to rate if this was useful/helpful.
Is there any blinking of light when the print command given. Any error message at printer display or Computer Screen ?
There is some problem in printing options. Please check and make default setting in the Printer properties. Go to Control Panel --> Select the printer --> Open printer window --> properties --> make them defauls --
During print command check whether the spooling in printer window goes completely or not (if it stop in middle )
Let me know in brief to solve this problem before going to reinstall printer drivers and do not vote till you recieve a good solution for this problem.
i have an mp170 all in one and when you fill the cartriges they dont show up as full cannon put a chip in the cartridge to con people into buying new ones try siting the cartridges in warm water for a few hours then blot the cartridge with tisue paper if it dont blot out the ink the cartride is finnished and you need a new one .To align the cartridge you flick through the menu on the printer not pc screen look for alignment page print this off then you have to pick the dark boxes on the sheet shade the bit next to it and put on your scan bed and click ok it should scan the sheet and reset the alignment
