When I turn the monitor on I get a message "In

Most Dell LCDs have multiple inputs and they will go into "standby" while waiting for a signal from your PC. This happens when your PC goes into "sleep" mode or if you are sure your PC is not in "sleep" mode then usually the LCD is not in the correct input selection. Check the input selection for the appropriate input. As always, make sure the cables are securely connected. Hope this helps.

When the monitor cable disconnected you get a "check cable connection message. With the cable connected you get a "no input error" and the monitor instantly gives a "going to sleep...

There's a problem with the video out. I would suggest trying to use a video card for video. You could also try resetting the cmos but I doubt it will fix things...more than likely you've got an issue with the motherboard's onboard GPU.

I turned on my computer and the monitor displayed this message on the screen "going to sleep no input received". I checked the power cord and unplugged it, nothing. No lights are flashing or beeping sounds. The CPU is working just fine, anyone have any idea what to do

Going to Sleep

Due to the power surge, it is highly possible that the monitor was given a boot by your computer on it's way out.

This will short out a very small transistor inside the monitor on the video board and in turn, then monitor cannot see that there is a signal so goes to sleep.

If you get brave enough to venture inside the screen, then check near the cable input. The transistors are only around 3mm and have 3 legs (two one side and one in the middle on the other).

If you find anything like that burnt (get a magnifying glass) then replacing the board is the easiest option. Just don't be tempted to wipe the board before you look at everything very closely, you may wipe away the tiny bit of evidence you are looking for.

Hope it helps =)
