Buttons on door of Frigidaire model FRS26HF78G2 (side by side) offers CUBE or CRUSH ice. Regardless of what button is selected, only crushed ice is being dispensed. I have cleaned all parts of ice unit and cannot find anything wrong. Any suggestions??

check to see if you ice bin has full size ice cube in it... if there is then you dispense is stuck in the crush mode check to see if there is something keep the crushing wheels from releasing... other than that it could be the control on the door..hope this helps
Your ice bin is out of alignment. Pull the ice bin all the way out and re-insert it and make sure it locks in place. When you re-insert the bin, look underneath the bin. You will see a metal rod. It must go INSIDE the yoke at the rear of the freezer, NOT under the yoke and NOT over the yoke. In the yoke. This is a common problem and will happen again. The ice bin has a way of dislodging itself. If the rod is not in the correct position you get crushed ice regardless of the setting.
unplug the fridge 2-3 minutes and see if it resets the computor to make
the ice control work normally again. You can also open up and get the
cubes out cheaper than having it repaired. Sorry about that!
We've had a similar problem, possibly the same, with our LG in-door ice maker. Whether cubed ice or crushed ice is selected, it crushes the ice.
We found that there is a little lever on the inside of the door, on the lower right behind the ice bin, which freezes in the down position. This is a literal "freeze up", as a block of ice forms in the little well under this switch and eventually freezes the switch in place. Since the switch needs to go up to provide cubed,.. we only get crushed. On 3 separate occassions we've thawed and chipped out (carefully) this little ice dam and gotten cubed ice capability back for a few weeks. At which point it freezes again. I have no idea why water collects there in the first place.
There is a solinoid in the freezer section by the motor that turns the ice auger. Test it by selecting cubes and with the ice bucket out, open the door, hold the door switch so the lights turn out and push the dispenser button. It should make a loud snap and travel upward. If not then I would say you have a bad solinoid. If it does, then I would look at the bucket. the metal rod that runs along the side of the bucket opens a flap in the bucket that is supposed to let the full cubes drop. look for anything that might cause it to be hanging up.
There is an opening next to the auger that dispenses the ice. In there there is a lever that must move up and down. It actually seats the metal rod on the bottom of the ice maker and controls cube or crushed. Make sure the lever is down (cube position) when you return the basket to the freezer. I had to hold it down while I slid the rod into the opening. Viola! Cubes again.
check it out! Thanks to Jake!
