Welcome to FixYa!
I assume that you have a Windows 7 operating system.
Solution 1. Run the "Auto detect and fix utility" of Windows 7.
Click start, then type "find and fix problems" in the search box.
On the results, click "find and fix problems with devices".
Solution 2. Do an online auto fix from Microsoft.
Keep me posted.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Have a great day.

Please provide me with the exact error message when you try to install the driver.Restart the computer in clean mode, which means temporarily disabling the programs that are being loaded on the startup of the computer.
Determine the model and manufacturer of the CD/DVD drive that you have.
Download and install the correct and updated driver.
Restart your computer in clean mode:
Click "Start".
Type "msconfig" in the search box.
Click "msconfig" in the search results above.
System Configuration Window will show up.
Click on "Services" tab.
Check the box that says "Hide all Microsoft services" on the lower left corner of the window.
Uncheck all the boxes in the body of the window.
Click on "Start up" tab.
Uncheck all the boxes in the body of the window.
Click on "Apply" at the bottom of the window.
Click "OK"
It will prompt you to restart.
Click "Restart:.
Do Windows Update after the restart:
Click "Start".
Type "windows update" in the search box.
Click "windows update" from the results above.
The Windows Update window will open.
Click "Check for updates"
The computer will automatically check for updates (This may take some time).
Click "Install Updates".
This will take longer than checking for updates. Please be patient.
On the process of updating, you might be prompted to restart your computer several times and you might experience slow shut down and boot up. It is normal during the updating stage.
Keep me posted.
Glad to here that. You're welcome!

I did both solutions and neither fixed the issue. It says its not recognizing the cd driver and when it tries to install it says its unsuccessful. It says the CD driver has a problem. What kind of problem could it be? I've used the driver twice since I got the darn thing!!
I did both solutions and neither f ixed the issue. It says there is a problem with the CD driver and the installation was unsuccessful. I've tried several times to install the driver but no luck. I've only used the CD two or three times since I bought it. What else could be the problem? Is there another way to install the driver?
There isn't any identifiable info on the dvd drive that tells me make or model. I'm not sure if there is someplace else to find this info. It just says DVD super multi DL drive and the only numbers i see on the drive is ABS+PC R5 INP 28-1. I'm not sure what clean mode means. The exact message says: Device Driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.
I assumed clean mode was the same as safe mode? I got this info in safe mode: Error code 39. and deviceinfo: IDE/CDROMHL-DT-ST_DVDRAM_GT32N____1.00____4&D22C5F5&0&0.10
also another message that said: Problems with PnP devices. Does this help?
This finally worked! Except that clicking on "fix hardware and devices" didn't install the driver and I actually had to click on "Play my cd/dvd, Burn dvd." Thanks so much!
