If you take off the peice that sucks the water off the florr you can get to where there's like black peice that contains like gears in it. They might be stuck so you might have to play with them to get the to start moving. I did it and it worked. I couldn't aford to take it and get it fixed so I had to do it my self and it works great now not a problem. It need clean and had like so kinda sticky stuff on it i think kept the brushes from moving hope this helps.

The brushes on all hoover steam vacs are air opperated it uses the suction of the vacuum motor to spin a turbine and in turn spin the brushes. Most likely that path of air is clogged with hair or carpet fuzz. On the top of the machine there is a little clear cover undr that cover there is a screen which keeps that hair for entering the turbine kinda like you clothes dryer lint trap. Take the cover off and clean that screen this should help. If you have any other questions or need parts for that machine or any other visit

Belt around brush roller is worn, it spins freely when there is no pressure on it. But put it on the floor, the belt won't turn the brushes. I suggest taking unit to vac repair shop for new belt installation

The spin brushes on my hoover steam And vac don't

Either the pin on the brushes that attaches to the motor shaft is broken, or the motor is dead. Did you check the switch on the front of the unit to make sure it wasn't turned off?

Brushes won't rotate on hoover steam vac. I have removed them and cleaned.

The brushes turn by the airflow from the vacuum suction turning a turbine motor to spin the brushes. First try to spin the brushes by hand. If they won't turn it usually means the brushes are clogged with hair and debris or need replaced or the turbine could be seized up. If the brushes won't spin reach under the brushes and push the little tabs and remove the brush block asssembly from the machine. If the brushes spin freely after you remove them from the machine then that means that most likely the turbine is seized and will need to be repaced. If the turbine is not seized you may simply just have a clogged filter screen. Most steam vacs have a red screen filter either on top or underneath the machine. On the top it is under a little clear plastic cover that you have to pry off before you can pull the screen out to clean it. If it's underneath you can pull it out and clean it.

New Hoover Steam Vac's brushes do not spin

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine will have to be replaced. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below.

Since the Steam Vac does not have any belts... the logical issue is Switch setting (Hi, Low, Off) on the base cover. The only other is dirt collection on the air intake for the brushes (unit uses air passing over plastic fan blades to spin the brushes). To clear the dirt problem, remove the clear plastic cover located just in front of the brush Switch. You can now use your finger nail (or an old tooth brush) to clean the filter screen located just below the Switch. Don't tear it, just gently remove the accumulated dust/hair.
Brushes should spin once you reassemble and power it up!!

Brushes won't spin on hoover steam vac ls

I have the SteamVac Dual and there's a screen on the underside of the unit. It's beneath the brushes and it's red. You have to pull and wiggle it to get it out. With the machine unplugged, lay the unit with the handle on the floor. In the owner's manual ( ) this is shown on page 10 figure 3-2. Clean that screen.
If they still won't spin, then take the brushes out. Again, with the unit on the floor, you simply grab the unit firmly and pull towards you. It's much easier to remove than the screen. I took the brush unit outside and blasted it with the house. You'll have to pull out whatever fur balls are clogging it but eventually you'll see that the brushes spin freely with the water squirting on them. Plug the brush unit back in and - in my case - they started spinning.

Spin brushes spin freely on steam vac when not attached to cleaner indicator screen not dirty speed selector is in high position brushes are clean spin brush indicator when brushes attached to machine...

If this is a Hoover Steam vac, the turbine which drives the brushes is bad. If not a Hoover, then what is it, they are different, need brand and model number.
