I have a Hitachi 50 in plasma. I am using an indoor antenna for local programing only. My tv guide says no listings. I finally had it up and running for a few days but now it is gone again

There are many that work well but it will depend on your environmental conditions. Proximity to the wall, windows, etc.

A good one to consider is the RCA ANT3ME1.

There is no "tuner" input provided on the Hitachi 55PMA550E model.

The US is now all digital for over-the-air (OTA) TV signals. If you have a digital TV converter, and have followed the instructions in the manual installing your indoor antenna and get no stations, you need a better antenna.

In the menu select Chan. Manager. Select Antenna if you are using an indoor or outdoor antenna. Select cable (1 or 2) if you have cable TV. Go to autoscan and select start. *NOTE* If you are using an antenna then you should be aware that this TV is not capable of getting broadcast digital stations. You will need a converter box and your box will do the channel changing.

I have found most of these indoor antennae to be ineffective and a waste of money, however, I do not know anything about this particular antennae. I to have a Dish DTVpal, which I love! It's ugly and probably won't fit in your kitchen, but the best solution is to make your own "bow-tie" antennae, mount it indoors or on the roof and run a cable to the kitchen. Directions can be found on You-Tube. I live in SE Idaho (Pocatello) and can get 13 channels, most without having to adjust the antennae.

Digital receivers whether external to the TV (converter box, satellite) or built in are digital processors(computers). Just like computers there are times when they freeze up. This can happen if the data stream is corrupted too much to render the picture, but enough signal to lock. The processor attempts to "wait" long enough to gather enough information to begin. Just like computers, these need to be re-booted by turning on or off and sometimes unplugged and plugged in. You have either too low of signal quality or too high of signal strength, which is a problem with digital receivers.    

In order to receive the TV's Guide system, the cable should be connected directly to the TV instead of the cable box if you are still using it.
