I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER ON MY 1996 GMC JIMMY THE OTHER DAY. THE FILTER IS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE DRIVERS SIDE INSIDE PART OF THE CHASIE.1ST DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE SIDE OF BATTERY, TO PREVENT ANY ACCIDENTS. THEN YOU JACK UP FRONT LEFT SIDE AND SECURE WITH JACK STAND.WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES BEFORE GOING UNDER NEATH THE VEHICLE. YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING TOOLS; 20m,16m, and 13m OPEN END WRENCHES.TO BEGIN HAVE SOMETHING TO CATCH A LITTLE OF FUEL THAT WILL DRAIN WHEN YOU LOOSEN THE FUEL LINES.WHEN YOU LOCATED THE FUEL FILTER, TAKE THE 20m OPEN END WRENCH AND PLACE ON THE NUT FROM THE FILTER,THEN YOU TAKE THE 16m OPEN END WRENCH AND PLACE IT ON THE NUT FROM THE FUEL LINE THAT CONNECTS TO THE FILTER. BY HOLDING THE 20m WRENCH FIRM YOU REMOVE THE FUEL LINE NUT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FILTER AS YOU LOOSEN THE NUTS FUEL WILL START DRIPPING FROM BOTH SIDES GIVE IT A MINUTE OR TWO .THE MOST THAT COMES OUT OF THE LINE WILL BE LESS THAN A CUP.NOW THAT YOU HAVE LOOSEN BOTH SIDES OF THE FILTER THERE IS A STRAP THAT SECURES THE FILTER JUST ABOVE THE FILTER,THERE IS A NUT THAT HOLDS THE STRAP YOU NEED TO GET A 13m SOCKET WITH A EXTENSION TO RATCHET AND REMOVE IT.LAST STEP FOLLOW THE FUEL LINE THAT GOES FROM THE FUEL FILTER TOWARDS THE ENGINE. THE FIRST CLAMP THAT YOU SEE HOLDING DOWN THE FUEL LINE TAKE THE 13m SOCKET AND REMOVE THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE CLAMP NOW YOU CAN SLIDE THE FUEL LINE FROM THE FILTER.REMOVE THE FILTER AND BE CAREFUL THERE IS FUEL IN THE FILTER. TO REPLACE WITH NEW FILTER. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE ARROWS FLOW GO TOWARDS THE ENGINE

Have 873 turbo bob cat fuel to inj pumps crack lines nothing going to injectors

What do you want to know? The fuel system is basic on this machine. Does the electric fuel shut off solenoid snap on an off as designed? Did you already replace the cracked fuel line? The battery needs to be fully charged. Maybe I can help you with this advice. After the fuel line is replaced the injection pump will be loaded with air. Loosen the black plastic primer screw from the top side of the fuel filter housing and prime the fuel filter until fuel flows out without air bubbles or remove the inline fuel filter, fill it, reinstall it and prime the filter. After that there is a nickel size flat screw that you will loosen before you crank the engine over. The screw is located in clear view,on the injection pump. This bypass screw will allow air to escape from the fuel system while it is running. With the screw open (turned counterclockwise) crank the engine over. You may need to try 6-8-or more times before it will start. Be patient, don't overheat the starter and if the battery starts to wear down "STOP" and put the battery on the charger. Ignore this warning and you will be replacing the starter as well. If you do get the engine started wait 30-45seconds before closing the bypass screw. Do not crank on it. It only needs to be snugged closed. Please give this a try and let me know. Any other questions please write back.

I got a toyota sequoia 2005 suv, 8v, 4.7L. I need change the gas filter yes or no?

The fuel filter is located inside the gas tank, the filter should last the life of the pump. i work on many models with this design and never had a problem, i tell customers it lasts the life of the pump. your fuel filter doesnt need replacing, it will last the life of the pump, it gets replaced with the fuelpump when it goes, good day.

I have a 2000 chevrolet express van sometimes it will start and run fine now it wont start at all i no its in the fuel system how do i check to see if the fuel pump is bad

Listen for the pump to come on when you turn the key to on. If it doesn't come on, find the relay in the engine compartment and see if the relay clicks when you turn the key on. If the relay doesn't click, replace the relay or try switching it with another one that is the same kind. If the relay is OK, and you can't hear the pump come on, your pump is probably bad.
If you can hear the pump, it might still be bad. You need to get a pressure test to make sure it is making pressure. An easy way to see if you are getting some fuel pressure is to find the fuel filter and loosen the nut on the engine side of the filter. In this way, you are checking both the pump and the filter. With the key on, loosen the connection carefully until gas starts to squirt out. Quickly tighten in back. If you loosen it all that way and get no gas, try loosening the connection on the other side of the filter. If neither side has gas, your pump is bad. If onlt the back side has gas, replace the filter. Any questions, please reply.

Where is my fuel filter located on my 91 VW golf 1.8L hatchback? and how do i change it?

The fuel filter is under the car next to the fuel pump reservoir and looks like a large, metal container. Arrows point the direction of fuel flow through the filter. Banjo type fittings with copper gaskets connect the fuel lines to the filter. Always replace these gaskets any time the fittings are loosened.

Follow the replacement procedure below to change out the existing filter.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.

2. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle. Have a pan ready to catch the fuel that will run out of the reservoir.

3. Have a rag handy and wear safety glasses when loosening the fittings. The system will be under pressure and fuel will be sprayed.

4. Hold the filter with a 19mm or 22mm wrench and loosen the fittings with a 17mm wrench. Wrap the filter and wrenches with a rag to contain any pressurized fuel. Have the catch pan ready.

5 Disconnect the fuel lines, loosen the mounting bracket and remove the filter.

6 Install the new filter but do not tighten the mounting bracket yet.

7 Make sure all fittings and sealing surfaces are clean. Install the banjo bolts with new copper gaskets and torque to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

CANT FIND FUEL FILTER

On the 2004 Sierra, the truck is on the change over year. If there is no fuel filter on the inside driver's side frame rail. The filter is the life time fuel filter which is a part of the fuel pump now and to replace it you have to replace the fuel pump. That is the good news, the bad news is the fuel pump has a life expectancy of 150,000 miles and will need to be replace soon after that miles. You can get more life out of it if you run the gas tank above half most of it's life since the fuel is what keep's the fuel pump cooled. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions you may have.
