I would reinstall your operating system. If you want some help, call dell, or have a Live Chat with one of our Experts

HOW TO FIX SGM.EXE-SYSTEM ERROR?

If you locate an "SGM.EXE" file in one of the areas below, you likely have a virus. I personally love Malwarebyte (linked at bottom) but they claim it is not virus protection. Works for me.

  • "C:\Windows"\SGM.exe
  • "C:\Program Files\SGM.exe"
  • "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SGM.exe"
If problem in the registry, try CCleaner (linked below) and run the registry cleaner tool.

Try restoring your computer to a previous time when it did not give you this error.

1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.
2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore.
3) In the new window, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and then click Next.
4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next.
5) Click Next on the confirmation window.
6) Restarts the computer when the restoration is finished.

Xp pro sp3-after running macfee quick clean. on boot-explorer.exe "the application failed to initialize properly 0xc0150002"

Issue may be a corrupt explorer.exe (The file that actually launches the desktop). There is a lot of discussion on how an AV an bork explorer.exe here and several solutions.
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1061853506
The one I recommend you try 1st is: Fire up the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), File, new task, cmd and then c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe from the command prompt (edit the command if you didn't install windows in c:\windows). See if system restore can rescue explorer for you.
If that doesn't work, there are several other flavors of repair possibilities, last of which is reinstalling Windows

Can't Get wireless to work

first: - goto the PC website and download the wireless driver
http://www.gd-itronix.com/index.cfm?page=Drivers:Selection&locale=en_US under XP it has this device GIGAWLAN V.5.2.0.117.07
HOW TO USE:

1. Download the .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file, and follow the instructions.

3. After the files are unpacked, the folder containing the extracted setup files should open automatically. The setup program (utility\setup.exe) is located in the "utility" directory and must be run to install the software

I would remove the wireless adapter from the device manager - right click and uninstall Now reboot the PC - it will detect new hardware, and start to install the wireless adapter, it should now automatically find the driver from. if not when asked browse to the extraction files
Hopefully the switch and light will now work - and wireless will be enabled

The file <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.

Restart the PC. The hal.dll error could be a fluke.
Check for proper boot order in BIOS. You might see the hal.dll error if the boot order in BIOS is first looking at a hard drive other than your main hard drive.
Note: If you've recently changed your boot order or recently flashed your BIOS, this may be what's causing your problem.
Run Windows XP System Restore from a command prompt. If this doesn't work or you're receiving the hal.dll error message before you're able to complete this process, move on to the next step.
Repair or replace the boot.ini file. This will work if the cause of the problem is actually Windows XP's boot.ini file and not the hal.dll file, which is often times the case.
Note: If repairing the boot.ini does correct the hal.dll issue but the problem reappears after a reboot and you've recently installed Internet Explorer 8 in Windows XP, uninstall IE8. In this specific situation, IE8 could be the root cause of your hal.dll problem.
Write a new partition boot sector to the Windows XP system partition. If the partition boot sector has become corrupt or isn't properly configured, you may receive the hal.dll error.
Recover data from any bad sectors on your hard drive. If the physical part of your hard drive that stores any part of the hal.dll file has been damaged, you're likely to see errors like this.
Restore the hal.dll file from the Windows XP CD. If the hal.dll file is truly the cause of the problem, restoring it from the original Windows XP CD may do the trick.
Perform a repair installation of Windows XP. This type of installation should replace any missing or corrupt files. Continue troubleshooting if this does not resolve the issue.
Perform a clean installation of Windows XP. This type of installation will completely remove Windows XP from your PC and install it again from scratch.
Note: While this will almost certainly resolve any hal.dll errors, it is a time consuming process due to the fact that all of your data must be backed up and then later restored.

Back up all the files externally and do a clean install of XP, I would actually use a DBAN to remove all files right before the new installation, too

Software installation corrupted system laptop wont stay on!!!!

Take the battery out and only have the adaptor hooked up to the laptop, then try to a fresh install of Windows XP and see if it goes thru. If it does then your battery is the culprit.
