Those can't be fixed permanantly, just temporarily... The L button can be fixed. I dun't think the D-pad up, down and R can be fixed

Up button stop working ds

Most likely the contacts for the up button are dirty, I suggest following one of the numerous guides for disassembling you DS and cleaning the contact with isopropyl alchohal. With a q-tip. Very gently. If that fails to work, get a new directional pad.

The other buttons work except fot button A do I need to clean the pads or replace something else

Hello.

Check the pads from inside your NDS (be very careful opening it!) Clean it and look for signs of wear, such as cracks on the pad. If the A button has a crack, then you will need to replace the pad. I experienced that on my NDS down button. Look for videos on youtube on how to open your NDS.

I just ordered a ps3 controller from RadioShack brand new. the L2 trigger does not work is there anything you would recomend

Hi if you have bought it new it should be working but sometimes you do get a faulty item, now their is no point in taking it apart as you wont be able to take it back to get a refund or replacement.
but you can try the following
1 on the back of the pad their is a tiny hole towards the middle part, if you look at the sticker on the back the whole is just above the top right corner of the sticker now if you switch the pad on by pressing the ps button then get a pin or something long and thin to poke in the hole now poke the pin all the way in and when its in far enough you should hit a switch and feel a click this is the reset button for the pad, so press that and then try the pad.
2 if that dont get it working then hold the pad in your right hand and hit it into the palm of your left hand hard a few times then give it a try, sometimes doing this gets the buttons working as the circuit might be in the wrong place, the printed circuit under the shoulder buttons is thin plastic and can sometimes move so doing this may get it back in its correct place.

3 now if the above fails the only option you have is take it back to where you got it from as taking it apart is the easy bit but putting it back together is a whole other ball game and trust me if you have never done one before then you will struggle to get it back together, you need a lot of luck and skill to get the shoulder buttons back in place its not east and trust me i have fixed loads, give me an xbox controller any day, even though it prefer the ps3 they just didnt make them very user repairable.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated answers, thanks

Down arrow key not working properply; cursor keeps moving up on its own: sometimes doesn't respond to down arrow key being pressed

u probably have sticky stuff and dirt in the directional pad, try this:

take the battery out, make sure the power is off, pour a little alcohol in the the crack of the directional pad, then press the directional pad in the different directions to loosen it up, finally let the psp sit for a few hours til the alcohol dries (or blow in it) that sould loosen everything up, if that does not work you will have to open the unit and clean the pad thorougly...

Not english

Note If the current language setting of the Dashboard is in a language other than English, the following steps will still work but you may not be able to read the menu options. If this is the case, you must follow the directional pad instructions exactly to make sure that you select the correct option.
  1. Start your Xbox console with no disc in the disc tray. The Xbox Dashboard appears.
  2. On the Main Menu screen, press the directional pad (D-pad) down two times to select Settings, and then press the A button.
  3. On the Settings screen, press the D-pad down one time to select Language, and then press the A button.
  4. On the Language screen, press the D-pad up or down to select the language you want, and then press the A button.
  5. Press the B button to return to the Main Menu screen.

Down button doesn't work on nintendo ds

You may have to open it and clean under the pad, or put the pad back in place under the button.
Here is how to open it:

Under the buttons is a rubber pad. A black puck under the rubber must line up to the contacts on the circuit board.
You need one special too, a tri-wing screwdriver (available on ebay).
