Question about Motorola Mobility Moto Q

Moto Q charger problem

Okay, so I just got a moto q, and the charger for some reason doesnt seem like its connecting. I can plug it in the phone over and over and nothing happens. Although - every once in a great while it charges. And I know its not a wire shortage because once it starts charging it doesnt matter how much you move it, it still charges. I just would like it to charge EVERY time I plug it in.... What to do??

Moto q won't charge properly. It's like it's not making a good connection. When it does charge, it stays charged for at least a day - but very unpredictable. What's up with that? The car charger seems to work better than the house charger. Tried removing the battery and then it wouldn't turn back on easily.

I also have the same problem. When I plug my phone in to charge it shows the "plug in" icon at the top corner of the screen. The problem is that it only charges when it feels like it (maybe once out of every 10 tries). So I've resorted to charging my phone when it's off. That's the only way I know it's charging for sure. With my Motorola car jack the screen stays lit up the whole time if the phone is on or off while it's plugged in. Again it doesn't charge up while it's on.

Yes, I have the Moto-Q as well and I plug it into the wall charger and it won't charge even though the icon on the panel looks like its charging (e.g. it has the exclamation ! next ot the charge icon). This is annoying because I'll plug it in over night and the next morning when I unplug it there is no charge.

Is there a fix for this? It is not the charger because I have 3 separate chargers that I have tried and the battery is new so I'm wondering if it is a software (OEM) issue. Any informaiton is appreciated.

You probably have some debris inside the charging port that is keeping the plug from going in all the way. Under a strong light and with magnifying glass, I was able to take a sewing needle and carefully loosen the debris and then suck it out with a vacuum cleaner. Everything works fine now.

If you plug the charger into your phone and the battery icon does not change, then it means your physical connection is loose. If the battery connection does change but will not hold charge, then the battery is dead. I have managed 20 Q's in our office. Most of the time we just buy new batteries. Sometimes I fixed the connection by doing the following:

Use a needle nose plier and squueze the mini usb tip on the chargerslightly...very slightly. This will give it a "tighter" fit when you plug it into your phone. Make sure it's unplugged from the wall when you are doing this =).

Moto g wont turn on

Try holding down the power key for 30 seconds. You should see a white indicator light blink. If not then plug it into a charger that you know works. If your not using the original charger it may not be getting enough power. You may need to charge it for a couple of hours and then attempt to turn it on while on the charger by holding down the power button for atleast 30 secs or untill it turns on.

Why wont my phone turn on or charge after a while

Hi, you can try these steps:
  1. Plug your phone into the charger
  2. Hold the VOL DOWN key
  3. While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
  4. Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
  5. After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
  6. The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
  7. Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:
  • Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
  • Proceed to Step 2 above.

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows. Paul Sager 2335 Solutions July 14, 2010 I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q. What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence. This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware. The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.) If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times. My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone. I hope that helps.
